    19 March 2015

"The local agents of the lodge are very energetic and showed us the NG Church hall with art work made from biblical themes, we were even entertained with singing and guitar accompaniment, of some great Slim Whitman songs, sang very soulfully, a real Aberdeen flavour. The BB has all the utensils you will need. It is cool inside with high ceilings and shutters closed to keep the heat out."

  • "Backpackers, not a lodge"

    28 December 2014

"It's a backpackers rather than a lodge. The staff is friendly. It's a bed and a hot shower under a roof - but that's about all. very basic, stuffy smell, dusty. Next time I'll rather camp somewhere."

  • "Pretty grim"

    14 January 2014

"My expectations were not high given the eminently affordable price, but this place has little to recommend it. Firstly, the phone number we were given was for an answering service that apparently is never checked and getting into the 'lodge' after a long drive from CT was a mission. Then to find, no towels, no fans, leaky roof, funky smell, and generally a dreary place."

  • "Serviceable"

    31 December 2013

"Ok but not great. The bedrooms could do with fans as it is stuffy. The communal bathrooms need work as they have open brick work and grubby old vinyl tiles on the floor. Bathrooms should sparkle, and these definitely do not. Very basic, old amenities eg fridge, tv, etc. towels not provided. Bedding clean, beds comfortable."

  • "Not quite a lodge"

    01 December 2013

"Although clean, Hunter's Lodge is not quite what we expected. It should be advertised as a very basic backpackers. And to our dismay we found that there are no en suite rooms. The owner, Annie, was very welcoming and friendly."
