Wits Rural Facility

Wits Rural Facility is situated 500 km from Johannesburg, on the road to the Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park. The facility is set on 350 hectares of unspoilt lowveld savannah, with an abundance of birds and wildlife. It is close to a highly populated rural area, typical of the old homelands of South Africa under the Apartheid government. Guests can stay in comfortably furnished units that are ideal for two or four people. Each unit offers a private bathroom. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering and each unit has braai facilities. Guests of more than ten can also be catered for. The facility has two swimming pools. There are various tourist attractions within a short drive such as, God's Window, the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Big 5 at the Kruger National Park. Wits Rural Facility is a bird lovers paradise, with a verified bird list of 198 species. Big 5 is not kept on the property, only Plains Game; although the occasional Leopard has been spotted at night, in the bushveld. It is therefore not advisable to venture into the bushveld alone and especially not at night.
