Situated in Frontier Country, Carnarvon Dale is an 1857 family farm on the banks of the Bushmans River. This historic Settler farmhouse once provided lodgings for travelers, whose journeys had been halted by the flooded river, until it was safe for them to cross. In this same tradition of hospitality, we welcome you into our home and invite you to share our heritage.
Once too, travelers recorded that our open plains were home to the mighty elephant and fearsome lion and that the valley bushveld teemed with game of many species. As you return to nature, so nature will return to you all that is good. We invite you to share in our conservation experience.
Carnarvon Dale consists of the Settler farmhouse, the Bottom House, and an elegantly restored early Edwardian cottage, the Top House. On offer is a choice of en-suite serviced bedrooms with private lounges meeting three star grading requirements. A family suite is available on request.
Delicious farm-style meals are served in the main dining room. Morning and late afternoon guided game drives in an open Land Rover are arranged to suit your personal needs. For a change of pace enjoy our bird watching and game spotting walks along the lazy Bushmans River.
In the evenings there are new friends to be made over cool sundowners and stories of bygone days to entertain you around a braaivleis fire under South African stars.
Your hosts at Carnarvon Dale, Roger and Maryan Hart, will make your stay a memorable and enjoyable one. Let them introduce you to the rich heritage of this unique landscape and its history while you enjoy the warm hospitality that defines the Eastern Cape
