"It was the filthiest place I had stayed in, in 50 years and that includes the jungle in the 80's. The blue pool is a lie. We cleaned the pool. Fishing dead frogs and the likes from it, sweeping the paving before we swam. It was green all the time. We chose this hovel above another for the sake of a pool. If you stood in the bath you could see the ground, OUTSIDE. The place stank. The main bathroom bath was so high I could physically, not get into it. The lock was broken. Both the labourers and the owner left the gate open any chance they got, making it unsafe always. We received 4 Mangy toilet rolls for 14 nights. The photo of the couch is a lie. We found 2 beds in the lounge. NO CHAIR to sit on for 2 weeks. What the hell are you thinking. We did not have the use of a sink for 4.5 days due to a broken tap.I had to to wash all the dishes in a bucket when I arrived as they were greasy and the number of cockroaches was a concern. I had to carry water from the bath to the sink in my own bucket to do the dishes. The place was covered in ghecko crap. We had 2 piles of garbage for 2 weeks. 1 in the braai area, where the 2 bags had been torn and left. The other pile was at the main gate. Garbage was left to fly all over the place at will as monkeys tear the bags open. No worker bothered to pick anything up. 2 Weeks. We saw the proprietor twice. On arrival, after phoning and asking to open the gate and departure, where he insulted us as we made a comment about the general state of the pool. All the wall hangings were hanging skew and were GREASY. Not one of the sets of curtains worked properly. They were off the hooks, couldn't open, filthy dirty and all the curtain rails were broken in some way. As I am terminally ill, this was my last holiday. I should have stayed at home and built a pool for my family rather than this holiday that, will forever be burnt into their minds with it's horror after I am gone. I got so ill from the filth in the place I was on a 10 day course of antibiotics and 10 days of cortisone. I am still not well. The sheets were so thin you could see the mattress. The mattresses are a book on their own. STAY AWAY from Anal Lodge situated in Anerley close to Port Shepstone, South Africa.<br /> <br />"
"For the remarkably low tariff we had really comfortable beds and most of the basics of a self- catering cottage. Perhaps a frying pan and a few extra plates would have helped. The shower and toilet were spotlessly clean. The TV worked without problems. There was also ease of access at the main gate and we enjoyed being within a five-minutes car ride to the beach and rock pool. Finances were sorted out without fuss and the proprietor was friendly and helpful. We plan repeating our stay."
"The stay was very nice- Jim was just very confused with the payments we did, first the deposit then the rest the 2 more days, he had a bit of a attitude "there is outstanding money everything's not paid - and it is R350 per day not R300 per day - so I had to email him the quote and proof of all the payments - then he apologies afterwards it was just very embarrassing at that moment because we always pay everything in full before arrival - but after that it was nice - they must just upgrade their bookkeeping to avoid this"
