Situated between Badplaas and Barberton and nestled at the foot of the mountains in beautiful Mpumalanga, you will find one of South Africas little gems - Komati Springs.
We offer 25 Campsites situated on grass under shady trees. The ablution block is equipped with electricity and full kitchen facilities are available for use. Various activities can be done in the area including recreational and technical diving, swimming and birdwatching. Over 300 different species of birds can be found in the area, including a rare bald ibis colony. There is also an abundance of beautiful flora and fauna.
Komati Springs was once a mine which closed in 1972. The mining process has left a large hole and adjoining cave system that has since been flooded and offers excellent conditions for all forms of diving. The open surface area of the hole is approximately 110 m long and 50 m wide, while the cave system is much larger with eight interconnecting levels from 9 m to 186 m. This is unique to Komati Springs and offers an explorers dream. High-volume, good quality air at 760 litres per minute is supplied and stored at 300 bars in 360 litre banks. The dive shop stocks a selection of equipment and spares. Equipment can also be hired from the centre but booking is essential.
Located about three hours from Johannesburg, Komati Springs offers a peaceful weekend or day visit away from modern day life. Its situated close to the Kruger National Park and various other tourist locations making Komati Springs an ideal base for those wishing to explore the area.
Komati Springs was created for hardy scuba divers who don't mind roughing it. Please note there are no facilities for children, like play areas or paddle pools. As it is nestled in a game reserve, no motorcycles or quad bikes are allowed on the property as they scare the animals.
"Komati Springs is a peaceful stopover with lots of lawn, shade and space, no red tape, rules or regulations. Highly recommended."
