Toro Yaka Bush Lodge is a one-of-a-kind lodge located in the unforgettably pristine bushveld of Balule. It is a 30 000-hectare nature conservancy in the Greater Kruger National Park area. Set apart from others by its seclusion, intimacy and privacy, Toro Yaka allows nature lovers to experience wildlife at close proximity during their vacation.
The lodge is designed for true bush elegance and it combines personal service and closeness to nature. The four air-conditioned, private en-suite double rooms ensure tranquility and comfort at all times.
The cuisine is a fusion of European and traditional African, prepared mostly outdoors over an open fire. Guests can view animals at the waterhole from the swimming pool deck as well as from the gym. There is an abundance of birdlife in and around the lodge. Field guides accompany bush activities and the Olifants River, which flows all year, is home to crocodiles and hippos. This is also an area of great scenic splendour with the northern Drakensberg Mountains visible from most points. The lodge is only an hours drive from two of the main gates to the Kruger National Park. Other attractions in the area include a wildlife rehabilitation centre, a cheetah project and the Hans Merensky Golf Club.
"The whole experience was fantastic. The food was excellent, the game drives spectacular, the room was spotless and the outside shower a bonus. Our hosts really went out of their way to make sure our stay with them was unforgettable."

"We were treated with great personal attention. They really catered for our needs, especially with two vegetarians. Everything there was clean and beautiful. Very quiet and away from it all if you want it to be. Great hosts, great food, enjoyable game drives."

"The lodge is beautiful and there is so much attention to little details. The cook is just adorable. Unfortunately when we were there the animals seemed to have moved away. That can happen, it is nature. Therefore we wanted to do a bush walk instead of sitting in a safari vehicle, so that we could learn more about nature, the eco-system etc. "

"We managed to secure a last minute booking at Toro Yaka and didn't really know what to expect. What we found is a lodge where you become friends with the hosts but you never feel that your privacy is being invaded. The lodge is very intimate and the attention to detail is great.Food and lodging is five star, and the game drives / walks are brilliant as they are flexible and are conducted by the owner, who is deeply passionate about conservation.I can't wait to go back soon. Thanks so much to all, with much love."
"I live in the UK and visited Toro Yaka with my family in April 2008. We were very impressed with the facilities, we received five star treatment at a reasonable price. We were also accompanied by my two year old nephew. Even though we were told that the establishment welcomed young children and the staff treated him in an excellent way, we would not recommend taking little children to the lodge as they can really disturb the peaceful nature of the surroundings and it is difficult to keep them out of trouble. I would definitely return to Toro Yaka for a visit, this time taking my husband for a romantic break. The rooms were superb and very clean and the food was very good."
"Our stay was excellent, after a week in the KNP it was the perfect end to our holiday. The food is great, the rooms very neat, the hosts Nicole and Steve is very friendly and we will definitely be back!"

"From the warm welcome in the carpark to the refreshing drink inside the lodge our stay could not have been better. The accommodation was very comfortable and we loved the outside shower. The lodge has a brilliant location in the bush and you can watch the wildlife visiting the waterhole from the swimming pool class. We went on three bush drives and a walking Safari and could not be more impressed,Steve was a brilliant guide with an intimate knowledge of the bush.We will definitely return with more friends in the future,Steve and Nicole made our stay exciting and very relaxing we would recommend the lodge to anyone who wants to experience the real Africa."
"Even in "wintertime" ( May) a perfect place to stay ! Very friendly +attentive hosts including a tame Mongoosebaby to play with . Wonderful spacious rooms, well designedand fitted with both inside- and outdoor-shower...everything. more than perfect. We especially enjoyed the game drive through Balule -quite a lot of animals, even a leopard after sunset.Steve is a well experienced Game Ranger and we can recommend the early morning bushwalk near the river - thrilling ! Very good value for money - hope, the rates will stay as they are- a private lodge and private reserve you won`t find a lot in this price range !"
"We had a wonderful time on our Honeymoon. Steve, Nicole and the rest of the staff were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The facilities and the food were amazing and we are already missing the peace and quiet of sitting out on the deck watching the wildlife. We will definitely be visiting again."
