The Village Bed and Breakfast

The Village Bed and Breakfast is centrally located in Somerset Street, a quiet and safe area of Bedford. It is the ideal bed and breakfast accommodation for visiting businessmen or travellers using the R63 to or from Graaff-Reinet or the East London-Port Alfred area. It is especially suited for families, as well as visitors to the Bedford Garden Festival every October.

The house is available on a bed and breakfast or self-catering basis, and dinner can be provided upon request. Features include a comfortable lounge and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, as well as a TV with DStv in the lounge.

The guest house sleeps up to eight guests in four well-appointed bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Three rooms are fitted with double beds, while one room has twin beds. An outdoor barbecue facility and off-street parking are also available for guests' use.

"This establishment has little or no management.  No breakfast is offered.  There is a domestic doing ironing in one room.  No security at all.  People coming and going at night, parking under my window leaving their engines running.  They have got a very pretty picture of a bedroom on your site, but that is not what you get.  The carpet was filthy and bathrooms basic - loose taps, the linen was 'sort of clean'.  No food offered at all or information offered at all in a town that there is no place to eat.  We eventually found the Bedford Hotel, but the first night they were closed so we had no food at all.<br />The owner came back eventually and offered us nothing.<br />"
