Bonwa Phala Game Reserve

Bonwa Phala Game Reserve is a 5,000 hectare nature reserve, offering a pristine, diverse and unique destination in the Bela Bela district of the Limpopo Province.

The weather is warm almost all year round and Bonwa Phala is a true home for lovers of nature and the African bush. It is under two hours drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria and, due to the location of the main lodge, it offers absolute privacy.Bonwa Phala exclusive accommodation comprises of a Main Lodge with 10 chalets and a Tented Camp with five tents, guaranteeing guests their privacy and solitude.

The Main Lodge's 10 open-plan chalets all feature en-suite bathrooms, and guests can choose between double and family-size chalets. All chalets have their own patio and are conveniently situated near to the main complex. The thatched, central main complex consists of an indoor dining area, an informal lounge area with DStv, and a cosy covered bar area that opens up onto an intimate and rustic open-air boma. Guests have the option of eating outside at the fire or retreating into the indoor dining area.

There is an outdoor pool with a covered shelter next to it for those who love relaxing around the pool but don't want to expose themselves to the suns rays for too long. Resident guests at Bonwa Phala have access to the superb 5-star Zebula Golf Estate and Spa, which is about a 10-minute drive from Bonwa Phala. Zebula offers a variety of activities such as golf, quad-bike safaris, archery, clay-pigeon shooting, fishing, horse safaris, spa treatments, restaurants, a convenience store, a signature design mountain bike course, and much more.

"Short drive from Joburg to a restorative bush holiday. Stayed at tented camp in middle of bush forest. Comfortable, unique and well designed. "Our stay at Bonwa Phala Bushcamp was so lovely - although only 2.5 hours outside of Johannesburg, the tranquillity and seclusion the units offer is wonderful. Our hosts Marietjie and Pieter were so warm and helpful. The dinners and breakfasts served to us (inclusive in accommodation costs) were delicious. Within the farm we managed to view giraffe, jackals, blesbok, red hartebeest, black wildebeest, zebra, impala, nyala, kudu and a scrub hare, as well as some tree squirrels and warthog. Eland, springbok and buffalo are also present on the farm. The birdlife in the area is terrific too.Thanks for your hospitality Bonwa Phala!"
