  • "Amazing place to relax, Honeymoon chalet was so relaxing"

    23 March 2021

"Maybe a shuttle for people with cars that not suited for the dirt road when it rains?A door hanger to hang on door to request room to be serviced/cleaned.Food was really yum. especially the Lemon tart Being able to mark down what we want for breakfast on a laminated card and select dinner option in advance made this super accessible and efficient for us. Jason and Kim helpful and friendliness made the stay special"

  • "Lazy summer days in the mountains"

    20 December 2011

"Three Roux siblings gathered at Ardmore for a rare family holiday in December 2011. It was the ideal place for a relaxing summer break, with unintrusive hospitality, plenty of activities in the surrounds, and glorious mountain views that are good for the soul. The rooms were clean, the water was hot, and the dogs and ducks were friendly. The food was wholesome."

  • "Disappointed"

    13 January 2011

"Extremely disappointing. We stayed in Protea Cottage. Poor quality, mismatched furniture, dirty windows, dirty bedlinen burnt out electrical wiring on table lamp,a distasteful odour on arrival necessitating opening all windows and door. A general air of neglect, not a standard that we are used to,totally misrepresented on their website. Not to be recommened."

  • "We were very impressed"

    04 April 2009

"We very much enjoyed our 2 night stopover at the Ardmore on the first leg of a 3 week journey - which took us to many parts of South Africa. The Ardmore is located in a beautiful part of the Drakensbergs and offers outstanding views of the mountains and surrounding vistas. Paul and Sue are great hosts, are very relaxed and both have a good knowledge of the area in terms of local history and what/where to visit. We stayed in one of their lodges (Yellowtree) and found this to be excellent for our needs with a nicely furnished bedroom, a very ample sized bathroom with bath and separate shower. There's also a separate sitting room with a nice log fire - which we didn't need on this occasion due to the warm climate. All in all we were very impressed and found the Ardmore most probably represented the best value accommodation in comparison to the many lodges and guest houses we stayed at over the 3 weeks. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends and others."

  • "Restful Retreat"

    18 June 2007

"Supper was served in-doors next to a crackling fire while breakfast was served out on the sunny verandah overlooking the beautiful mountains. The long dining room table made for wonderful conversation with all the other guests from far and wide.Food was wholesome and tasty. Our host, Paul, was friendly and accommodating. The gigantic tame pig that roamed the farmyard made for a good laugh...dogs were friendly but not a nuisance. Rondawel accommodation was "farm-style" as promised...but the fireplace in the room made up for any lack in luxury. Haven't felt so relaxed in a long time!"
