In the Unesco World Heritage Site, Drakensberg House is differentiated by its quality, 50m from the resort it offers a unit rate for one to eight guests.
Safe and secure it is a security-patrolled estate where all kinds of African wildlife abound. Zebra, Impala and Wildebeest roam free.
Drakensberg House is a stone cottage with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Included is a separate apartment.
The cottage is stone cottage in the mountains and has a traditional wood-burning stove and a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, hob and gas plates.
There is an open-plan dining room with a four-seater dining table and a comfortable lounge. There is just under an acre of manicured gardens with an outdoor braai and a seating area, and there is adequate covered parking.
Please note that the cottage sleeps eight guests and is bookable as a unit only.
Taking a walk in the garden or the surrounding area; you may stumble across blue wildebeests, duikers, blesboks, Egyptian geese, servals, porcupines, jackals, baboons, vervet monkeys and several species of mongooses, as well as Cape clawless otters.
Hiking trails and walks in the Champagne valley and further; local from the Drakensberg House include The Monk's Cowl; the starting point to the spectacular peaks.
Rest in the mist at the base of the magnificent Nandi's Falls and explore the pools along the Profane river.
Another great day hike takes you up past the sandstone rock faces of the valley to the grasslands at the base of Cathkin peak where Rhebuck, Eland and bird life flourish.
Toughing it, is the 10 hour round trip that will take you up to the plateau of Champagne Castle (3337 m), one of the highest mountains in the Drakensberg. Here you can rest at the top of a 1000 m drop and watch rare bearded vultures circle before heading back down Gray's Pass.
A drive away includes; The Cathedral Peak area is defined by a freestanding set of peaks extending from the escarpment, and is a 45-minute drive from Inkosana Lodge.
The Injasuthi area holds the highest peak in the Drakensberg and is especially notable as having one of the best sites of Bush men rock art in the area. This art can be explored with a guided walk to Battle Cave, which displays a battle scene between two Bushmen tribes. Injasuthi is only 45 minutes by car.
Royal Natal National Park is 90 minutes north and lies at the northern end of the Drakensberg range, at the base of the Amphitheatre. Day hike up the beautiful Tugela river gorge, or drive an additional hour and walk up to and along the top of the escarpment to the Tugela falls, second highest waterfall in Africa.
Giant's Castle is another great site for Bushman rock art, with the caves only a 1.5 km walk from the entrance gate. Here you'll also find a museum which recreates Bush men life. Serious hikers can reach the top of the Drakensberg escarpment via Langalibalele Pass.
"The owner accused me of theft and leaving the place in a bad condition he also stated that I arrived with more than the number of quests that I paid for. He also stated that I arrived at 11:30am and demanded pots etc from the cleaning staff. All the above is incorrect and I have some pics to prove as well. WE ARE VERY DISSAPOINTED AND WILL NEVER USE THIS ACCOMMODATION AGAIN"
"My family and I had an unbelievable experience in this beautiful stoned cottage. The entire cottage is exceptionally well furnished, clean and perfect for a family getaway. The views are incredible and with the use of the Drakensberg Sun facilities it made for a perfect week away. I liked the fact that everything that one wants to do in the central Drakensberg is so close to this perfectly positioned cottage. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone that is interested in visiting the beautiful South African Drakensberg mountains."

"We stayed at Drakensberg House for three nights over December and loved every minute.

The house is very big and cosy, there is enough space for everyone to feel comfortable.

Two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms are on one side of the house and the other bedroom on the opposite side of the house with en-suite bathroom...the cottage is attached to the house with bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom.

It was great for 3 couples, everyone had their own space.

The garden is beautiful and very big, the kids loved running around and exploring and it is also very safe so they couldn't escape or wander off.

Spectacular view of the Drakensberg as well. We will definitely visit again and would recommend all to visit Drakensberg House."
"I had the most unforgettable stay in Drakensburg this past weekend. Drakensberg house is an amazing home nestled within the berg. The house caters to small and even large groups. My 5 and 6 year old were more than comfortable in the spacious areas the house has. The garden and landscaping is breath taking. We filled our days with a host of activities provided close by such as horse riding, riding scooters down the mountain, air ballooning, zip lines and so much more but couldn't wait to get home to relax and unwind.
I look forward to visiting Drakensberg house again perhaps in winter so that i can take advantage of the wood fire place and cosy up with the kids to good movie or finally learn to play chess."

"The Drakensberg House was the PERFECT place for our weekend away. The children took advantage of the hotel's sport facilities and enjoyed canoeing, tennis, squash, horse riding and table tennis. The house itself is lovely. The bedrooms beautifully decorated and quite cozy with down duvets for the chilly nights. We made good use of the fireplace too. The garden, braai area and veranda are all quite picturesque and enticing even the cool weather. We had a really lovely, relaxing stay and are sure to return."
