Avondzon Holiday Farm

Avondzon is a self catering holiday estate of 266 ha in the eastern Free State of South Africa. It is situated halfway between Bethlehem and Fouriesburg, almost 6 km from the village of Slabberts, which is situated at the R26 road, at a distance of about 300 km south of Johannesburg.

The estate is particularly ideal for nature lovers who will admire its tranquility, birds and beautiful scenery. The altitude of about 1800 m of this region guarantees a mild subtropical climate for most of the year.

The nearest national park is the Golden Gate park at a distance of about 65 km. About one third of this farm is occupied by a beautiful mountain range. Most of the land is still in use as farmland for wheat and corn, as well as grazing land for cattle.

In the main house is a fireplace and small electrical fan heaters are provided for chilly winter nights. On top of the mountain there is an antenna for cell telephone communications, so the reception is perfect.

Water is supplied from private wells and is of excellent quality.

"We had a wonderful time at Avondzon. The self-catering flat we stayed in was clean and very comfortable plus it has a fireplace and braai area.<div><br /></div><div>The area is beautiful and so peaceful and the family staying on the farm super accommodating. The two young boys, and three corgi dogs, hiked with us to show us the rock paintings and surrounds.</div><div><br /></div><div><div>Great value for money! We'll definitely be back.</div></div>"

"Die klip huisie tussen die rotse is baie privaat & stil. Die voet padjie is biekie styl want jy moet al jou goed op dra huisie toe. Hulle kan dalk trappe daar in sit. Die warm water is ook baie min. Verder kon ek niks verkeerd vind met dit nie. Die Boesman tekeninge is ook 'n moet om na te gaan kyk."

"Aangenaam veral as gevolg van die pragtige omgewing. Die eienaars was weg met verlof maar die man wat ons moes ontvang, was baie vriendelik en bekwaam genoeg vir die situasie. Ons kar met inhoud moes buite staan en dit het effense kommer meegebring, maar dit het geblyk ongegrond te wees. Wonderlik mooi daar en ons sal weer daar oornag. Die billike prys vir goeie basiese verblyf word baie waardeer."
