Murasie Guest Farm

Enjoy the serenity and splendour of the Eastern Free State countryside. A warm welcome, breathtaking views and true tranquility awaits guests upon arrival at Murasie Guest Farm. Our name originates from the original homestead on the farm.

The accommodation offered is of the highest standard with warm hospitality and service. We cater for up to 13 guests in spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, all overlooking the lush gardens. The Family Rooms and bridal suite all have their own entrance, television, electric blankets, heaters and hospitality trays. The main guest house has a lounge with a log fireplace, DStv and stunning views of the surroundings. With its panoramic views, the thatched lapa is ideal for barbecues or sundowners.

Murasie Guest Farm is a 320-hectare working farm set amongst the beautiful mountains of the eastern Free State. Sheep farming is the main industry on the farm, consisting mainly of Vleismerino sheep. Other industries include crops such as maize and soya beans. We are a 2.5-hour drive from Johannesburg and a 3-hour drive from Pretoria. Golden Gate, Clarens, Fouriesburg and Rosendal are only a short drive away. We offer the ideal halfway stop between the Cape and Mpumalanga.

  • "A DISGRACE"

    28 December 2013

"Arrived at the farm to no reception and where the accommodation was, it was in a overgrown, derelict state. The room had no TV, no aircon, and the cooking facilities did not work. An extension lead ran across the floor to the side of the fridge with the sink above and you plugged in either microwave or fridge, obviously highly dangerous with regards electricity. A lady farm worker turned up to give us a key and then left after us phoning the owner, otherwise we never saw any staff whatsoever. If there had been any accident or security problems we would have had no assistance and would have to fend for ourselves. The so called continental breakfast included out of date yoghurt, hard stale muffins and only enough milk, tea and coffee for one, when there was three of us !!!! the milk was the dregs of some long life milk carton. Fortunately four men turned up to stay and said what a disgrace this was and they went into Bethlehem to get supplies to tide us over. We left at 5.30 am and had a breakfast on our travel route. We had no sleep as there was no security or adequate locks for protection, although some rooms had a gate. This accommodation should not be advertised, let alone be rated, and I think there has been no check on this property to see whether it meets any requirements as to whether it should be allowed to be advertised !!!!!"
