The guest house has retained much of the buildings original characteristics including wooden floors and large heavy doors with old oversized keys. There are three comfortable en-suite bedrooms which can be found inside the main-house. Outside there three units which are separate from the house, these units all have their own en-suite bathrooms, inside the units there are aircons as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

The rooms share a cozy lounge with a fireplace, satellite TV and a mini-library with books and magazines.

Breakfast is served in a communal dining room which also serves as a venue to host meetings, conferences and intimate wedding.

There is a coffeeshop onsite where meals can be ordered and enjoyed in the courtyard.

"We were friendly welcomed at the guesthouse. Our rooms was neat, clean and inviting. The aircon in the room helped a lot after our hot journey. We had a special breakfast before we left the next morning. We were each treated with a Christmas gift at the breakfast table. Thank you for a memorable stay at the Old Watchmakers Guesthouse."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly return if we are in the vicinity again. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable and the food excellent. We appreciated the safe parking which meant that we did not have to un pack the car for the night. Bethulie is an interesting place too if you are interested in Anglo-Boer War history. And if you are interested in engineering, some amazing bridges nearby, one dating back to 1889."

  • "Great stay"

    22 March 2014

"I arrived late, but Francois and I had made arrangements prior for a key that worked great. The house is beautiful, and the character form 1880 was nicely preserved with the grain wood doors and doorframes and the original wooden floor. Breakfast was served and was more than I could eat, served in great setting. The rustic atmosphere of the town makes the slight detour absolutely worthwhile"
