Aloe Inn Guest House

We are a luxury 4 Star, AA Highly Recommended B&B based in Port Edward, situated in front of the lighthouse in Port Edward - a mere 50 m from the sea. All six the rooms have fans, en-suite and have fridges. Three rooms have balconies and fabulous sea views.

We are a bed & breakfast and also offer the whole establishment on a self catering basis for weekends. During the Christmas / New Year this can be booked for a maximum of 14 people, for a minimum of 7 nights. There is a splash pool on the patio. Watch the whales and dolphins from our lovely decks, or you can enjoy visiting activity establishments within easy reach of our guest house. Our local beach is close by and has a launch site for boats. We have some excellent local restaurants, but we do provide dinners on request. We also offer facilities for meetings of small groups up to 18 people.

  • "Close to the beach"

"The owners were very friendly and the beach location was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable. We do feel that the star rating of 4 was misleading as the facilities did not meet our expectations. The "splash pool" was a covered jacuzi and the facilities seemed run down. Although there is a large dining area they made it clear that Safari clients do not qualify for breakfast as they already pay extra fees to Safari. The R350 voucher that I claimed from Safari was also not accepted, the owner said he knew nothing about it and we had to pay in full. The photograph of the facility makes it look as if you have an open view to the ocean, but there is actually a double storey house in front of you, blocking a chunk of the view."

"I was slightly disappointed with my stay here, I only see my family twice a year and like to have a great time when I am home.I booked 3 rooms, 1 non sea facing and 2 sea facing. The non sea facing was tiny and crammed up.Only one sea facing room had really amazing sea views. The spare bedding looked like it was just thrown into the cupboards and the toilet seats were all cracked up and gross. Other than that the rooms were nice. I had called the day before we were to arrive and asked if we could possibly use cooking facilities as we like to just do our own thing, it was said that it wouldn't be a problem and we would discuss it upon arrival. On arrival when we were unpacking we were rudely told we had to store our food in the rooms which we understood and went by it,later that evening my cousin and her friend asked if they could perhaps dry clothes that had rained wet from the trip down, they were again shouted at saying that its not a self catering place which we were all at that time aware of but it wasn't asking much at all. A little understanding would have been nice. The next morning I went down to make my family breakfast, well lets just say I was treated very badly for someone who was paying so much money to stay there. I don't normally give bad reviews as I am very easy going but if there was another place to stay I would have checked out immediately and demanded a refund."

"We immediately booked a second night before we even saw the room: Ian and Es are fantastic hosts, the rooms are comfortable and clean. The view is great and they booked tables at local restaurants before we could ask. We'll definitely stay here when we return to Port Edward."

"OMG what a beautiful venue not mentioning the hospitality of the owners. Due to unforeseen travelling hiccups I arrived at the venue at 2am but Ian assured me that they will wake up and open for me and welcoming me into their great and warm guest house. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay and we will come back again."
