"Dis lekker groot huis met baie spasie. Vir kinders is dit n droom, tuin om te hardloop en n swembad. Dis so rustig op die plaas en die feeling in die huis is amazing. Dis so rustig. Heidi en Hugo is ongelooflike vriendelike en behulpsame mense."

  • "Nice place to stay with very friendly owners"

"This is a spacious and well-thought out guest house with well-equipped rooms and a huge communal dining / sitting room that has panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. There are basic cooking facilities (microwave, fridge and kettle) in the rooms but we could also use the large communal kitchen. The owners are very friendly and helpful, we felt so welcome. We joined them on their morning dog-walks, learning a lot about the farming and area at the same time. Our room had a little stoep with table and chairs, leading to the garden. The garden is lovely with a swing and trampoline, fire-pit and brai, and plentiful birdlife. There is a swimming pool which was a hit with my little one. You will see from the map that it is very near the trainline but we only heard one train in the entire stay and weren't disturbed at all."

  • "Peace and Quiet away from the city life"

    13 January 2018

"We loved our stay at Merwenstein. It was perfect for our little family of 4. We enjoyed the pool and the farm walk with Hugo. Heidi made the best breakfast everyday and taught my little brother how to play a German card game. Its a peaceful place to go when you want to be away from the everyday rush in life. Two things I would prefer is if the beds were softer as they werent very comfortable but we slept fine. Also if there was a fridge in our own room. We made use of the common sharing fridge which may have not worked out so nicely had there been other guests as well. Other than that, it was a perfect getaway from home :) we felt very welcomed! Thank you both!"

  • "Awesome stay"

    30 December 2015

"We just stayed at Merwenstein Guestfarm for the week over Christmas. It was a great holiday, the accommodation was great, spacious rooms with ceiling fans and a chill-out area. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful without being intrusive... Oh and the river was incredible! A perfect stay..."

  • "Merwenstein"

    08 March 2011

"The guest house lacks the little attention to detail eg. a towel at the front door not a mat, lights not working in bedrooms, no soap in bathrooms, mattresses and pillows substandard and dinners very expensive for the quality of food given. Powdered milk on tea-trays in bedrooms. Very untidy. Heidi and Hugo lovely people."

  • "Mervenstein wonderfull Guest House"

    13 February 2010

"We had a wonderful stay at Mervenstein Guest House. Heidi made us a very interesting and learning tour among grapes and fruit trees and the river. We learned a lot of how a farm was driven. The house was very clean and we enjoyed every minute we spend there. We can recommend Mervenstein guesthouse with all our hearth. We visited the kindergarten, and were impressed of the work that was shoved there. Thank you for a wonderful but too short stay.Flemming and Ingelise from Denmark"

  • "What a gem!"

    20 August 2008

"We were welcomed by Felicity, who looks after the place and did the cooking. Later we met the owner, Hugo, who was very willing to share with us about what happens on the farm. As it was winter, there was not much happening, but he took us on a walk through the fields and explained the ins and outs of fruit and vine farming. Meals were great, and were a time for more discussions. As we were the only guests, the place was very quiet. A great place to stay!"
