Shady Creek Cottage

Shady Creek Cottage is situated on the banks of the Breede River with breathtaking views to wake up to. The cottage is comfortable and stylishly furnished with two en-suite bedrooms; the main bedroom flows to the exterior through beautiful French doors.

There is an open-plan fully equipped kitchen and living area and a sleeper couch in the lounge area for extra guests (1 adult or 2 small children). There are braai facilities outside either on the patio or next to the river, for entertainment purposes. A small private jetty is available to guests (might be underwater in winter depending on the water level). If you want to experience country life, birdwatching, peace and tranquillity, Shady Creek Cottage is the ideal breakaway. Guesthouse DStv is available which has sports and movie channels as well as a mini library with books & games.

Bonnievale lies in the shadows of the Langeberg and Riviersonderend mountains and this part of the world is known as the Valley of Cheese and Wine for good reason - Shady Creek Cottage offers the ideal start to a wine tour of the area!
The Breede River provides an endless list of water sports, including a trip up the river on the River Goose, canoeing, fishing, and for those without water wings, there is a golf course, hiking - and 4x4 trails within short driving distance.

"Shady Creek is situated in a beautiful garden right on the banks of the Breede River.It is such a pity that the maintenance and housekeeping of this cottage left much to be desired.Lots of cracks in the walls, walls need painting, the so called beautiful French doors were dirty, the wooden door frames would have needed at least to be dusted off before renting the cottage out. .The crockery and cutlery could have had a good clean before we arrived. The description each bedroom flows to the exterior through beautiful French doors is not quire correct. One bedroom only flows to the exterior through beautiful French doors, the other into a birdcage like enclosure???"

"I loved the security measures. I loved to be able to sit outside and braai. Everything that you needed, except a dishwashing cloth, was there. (Maybe a curtain in the lounge when someone is sleeping on the sleeper couch would be a good idea.) It was amazing to hear trucks and cars behind the house but to only see tranquility in the form of the river and birdlife. Truly a magnificient place to stay."

"Pluses: Fantastic views. Everything you need. Pet friendly. Lovely linen. Comfortable beds. Great for bird lovers-even saw a Fish Eagle.Minuses: Amount of security makes one feel a little uneasy. Good idea to have an out of season/midweek rate. Fantastic for a family but perhaps a little big for only two people (and a little expensive)."
