Benlize Lodge

Benlize Lodge offers thatched cottages nestled on top of a hill with beautiful views over Pecanwood's Jack Nicklaus Golf Course and Hartbeespoort Dam. Each unit is fully equipped with cutlery an linen.

There are four private self-catering units, all with their own private lapa and braai facilities. The chalets are fully equipped and built with mountain rocks. Our lapa is the ideal place to host any function or just relax while enjoying a great South African braai. We have a lovely swimming pool and a tennis court to keep the busy bodies entertained.

Whether youre looking for an adventure sport or an outdoor adventure, you will definitely find something among all the activities in the area to suit your style. From hiking to white-water river rafting trips, or hot air ballooning during sunrise, the North West has something for everyone.

Hartbeespoort Dam is surrounded by the majestic Magaliesberg Mountain range, and is very popular for water sports activities.

  • "Peace and quiet, and nice view."

    24 October 2021

"We loved the spacious rooms in Koraalboom. The only thing I would have liked, is a fenced-in area where my dogs could go outside and so that the resident dogs could not come inside our house, and if the high stoep could be secured (my old, nearly blind dog fell off, luckily without injury)."

  • "To sit and look over the hartebeestpoort dam"

    27 April 2021

"The place is awesome.... We love to sit in your lapa and look over the hartebeestpoort dam. In the evening it look like a fairy tale.... All the little lights. Every unit is very private. The host is very friendly."

  • "The fresh air and peace and quiet up there"

    01 January 2018

"All we would like to see changed: Are the cabinets space for groceries for the time you spent there and shrubs that block the view of the lake for the chalets."

  • "Quiet space to rest."

    26 December 2017

"Unfortunately, not all was so great. Although we did rest properly and we enjoyed the Koraalboom chalet, we had some issues. We got to the lodge and we had to sit in the sun outside the gate for more than an hour as no one answered their phones. Only after we screamed and shouted at staff walking inside, did we get help and the office number does not even exist. The beds are not for people with back problems. So is the living room couches. Very quiet and does help to rest properly. The other issue was that visitors used the lapa but took over the whole swimming pool area and we could not swim for two days. Toys and pool toys were all over inside the pool. Drinking and load music for three days straight. If you intent to go there. Rather make sure you have a 4x4. The road did same damage to my car."

"Excellent value. Spectacular views. The Rondavel unit is small and some furnishings are old but there's an awesome lapa area and a super cute mini jungle gym that our toddler loved!<div><br /></div><div>Would certainly stay again but book a larger unit.</div>"

  • "Alex Benlize lodge 4 to 6 March"

"The lodge is situated on top of a koppie with a excellent view over Hartbeespoort dam. It is quiet with a very relaxing atmosphere in the bush surrounded by protea trees."

  • "Benlize Lodge"

    15 February 2016

"<p>Value for money experience, clean, well equipped facility, nothing lacked. The views (overlooking the dam) are truly awesome, we had breakfast in our own lapa daily, just taking in this lovely view(s). On thedown-side, we experienced difficulty finding the Lodge as there were noactual signposts from the main road. (Only about 1km in on the gravel road). The 1km gravel road also appears a bit longer and it's not very friendlyto ordinary family cars, wanting to travel there. All LDV'sand 4x4 should not have any issues.</p><p>Friendly owner (and family) makes you feel welcome. Enjoyed the stay.</p>"

  • "Rustic, but comfortable accommodation with a great view"

    18 January 2016

"I unfortunately visited just after a hailstorm that cost damage, so I will overlook the hailstorm damage. The units that I entered where comfortable and well equipped. I am not a fan of a double bed and a single bed in one room, but I suppose that is how things are done in the industry. However, the rooms are spacious and relatively clean; depending on the levels of cleanliness that makes you feel comfortable. I was there over a weekend and the rooms were not serviced after the first night, so take along some extra toiletpaper and be prepared to clean up the following day. Getting to the venue is easier in a vehicle with good ground clearance, but not essential. If I have to nit pick, the boundary fence needs urgent attention. Would I go back? Yes, yes, yes. The people were friendly and helpful."

  • "On a clear day you CAN see forever......"

    12 August 2015

"Benlize is an amazing little gem, so close to Pretoria that one does'nt feel you have traveled at all, but worlds apart from the noise of the city. Our beautifully appointed home-from-home Koraalboom cottage, with its spacious rooms and unbelievable views over Hartbeespoort Dam and the surrounding hills, really made the rather steep climb from the main road worth every minute. Upon arrival Bennie's charming assistant Renier assisted us with checking in to the cottage, and went the extra mile by coming to make sure we were able to find candles etc. during loadshedding on the Saturday night. Bennie came to greet us personally, and we were made to feel so welcome and so at home. A do again??? ABSOLUTELY!! :) Thank you for a wonderful weekend.......Cheryne, Marlize and Lente"

  • "Awesome stay!!"

    03 August 2015

"Benlize lodge is a fantastic getaway for a break from the city life!! They have the most amazing view from the Koorsboom accommodation which is 4/5 sleeper. They have baths, a shower, fireplace inside, as well as a very well equipt kitchen. Its close to things to do in Harties and was extremely relaxing and welcoming!! I will definitely be going there again for my next weekend getaway!!!"

  • "A wonderfull world"

"The place is really amazing, and the view is stunning! After just two days there, I felt like I took a week of holidays!"

  • "Great and Not-so-great at the same time"

    26 January 2015

"Absolutely spectacular views, and very neat accommodation. Only problem is: They host band practices on Saturday afternoons and evenings. So not only is the pool and lapa area not available for use to the paying guests as it's being used by bands, but you have to sit in your chalet and listen to a high-school band fooling around on a microphone, not even making proper music. Our complaints about the fact that we drove all the way from the city and paid money to get away from noise and get into nature wasn't well received, and we had to complain numerous times that the music was keeping our baby and toddler awake. Owners weren't very happy that we were disturbing their dinner with our complaints. If you intend to go, I suggest that you first check that there won't be any band practices before you go. Otherwise highly recommended."

  • "Weekend Vacation"

    02 June 2014

"My partner and I had a wonderful, amazing, and fun filled time. It was great, the place is very private, intimate and cozy. The family (owners) gave us space and never bothered us in any way."

  • "Should not be on SafariNow"

    05 August 2013

"I had a terrible experience with Bennie and Elize on my booking. Do not book with them over SafariNow as they cannot keep their account on this site updated and accurate. I will not disclose details of the issue with them, but warn any potential client that they should contact them directly. It is such a pity as the property is stunning but in my opinion this business is not being run to the acceptable standard."
