Oori River Lodge

Oori River Lodge overlooks a scenic stretch of the Crocodile River Valley. The extensive gardens blend into indigenous riverine bush with lawns sweeping to the rivers edge.

The lodge is in the heart of the Oori Nature Reserve and is fully game fenced. Leisurely walks can be taken in the extensive gardens and in the bushveld environment of the reserve itself. A wide range of bird life can be observed and there is always the chance of spotting the reserves varied game, which includes kudu, impala, blesbok, wildebeest and zebra as well as other small mammals and reptiles. The charming, self-catering cottage is a thatched cottage for two guests, consisting of a comfortable living room, a double bedroom, a kitchen and dining room area with a bathroom. Kitchen facilities include a microwave and electric hob. Outside the cottage is a large paved terrace leading onto a barbecue area with its own private lawn overlooking the river.

Oori River Lodge is just 5 km off the R512, the road that leads to Hartebeestpoort and it is close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the museum in the Cradle of Humankind. The Sterkfontein Caves and The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve are also in the vicinity. The Lodge is only half an hour from the hustle and bustle of Monte Casino and Fourways, one of Gautengs premier shopping centres. Lanseria Airport is a mere 15 minutes drive away. There are some very good restaurants in the area. Oori River Lodge is the perfect place to unwind and relax in tranquil and secluded surroundings.

  • "the tranquility"

"a great braai area, the river is amazing however all the papers and other "things that hang on the reeds across the river makes it so unpleasant to look at. wish there was housekeeping as we stayed for 2 nights, The place can also do with new towels."

  • "A quiet stay"

    11 December 2017

"The ambiance, tranquility was 100 percent, but the breakfast out of 10 scored a 1. This is a B&B and for the price should have out did them selves for the breakfast. They supplied 2 slice egg toast and mashed a Checkers budget burger pattie and called it a fritter with a little baked beans. The welcome and communication by the hosts were excellent. No microwave or bar fridge facility."

  • "The kindness of the owners."

    18 September 2017

"What a beautiful tranquil place, with owners who walked the extra mile after our car breakdown just before we had to leave. The cottage was quaint and cosy with everything we needed. There is a gravel road, but it takes you through a game reserve on the way to the property. Lovely to have seen zebras, kudus, giraffe etc. I would recommend this place anyday to anyone for a weekend getaway into nature."

"Honestly the place is satisfactory, the only challenge is the road to lodge, the grass is long, it makes things difficult for small vehicle clients..."

  • "Peaceful and beautiful"

    31 March 2016

"<p>Oori Lodge was a super break away for the two of us, who needed to recharge our batteries after a hectic Easter Weekend. We had the whole place to ourselves and Wilna and John were very welcoming. The unit was very cosy and well-kitted out and the rolling lawns down to the river, with secret paths and private patios, were just what we needed. The pool was huge, blue and sparkling. Our walk amongst giraffe, wildebeest, kudu and various other antelope made us feel like we were miles away from home, although we were just 30 minutes away. </p>"

    02 March 2015

"Roads are pretty bad, long and if you're not in a 4x4, prepare to damage your car.<div><br /></div><div>The cottage is pokey, quaint and the setting is nice, but it's a converted house on banks on river.</div><div><br /></div><div>Very underwhelming and not what we expected based on the rate.</div>"

  • "Quaint and homely"

    13 August 2013

"A warm welcome, friendly hosts and home cooked meals. Note it is communal dining and a set menu but very tasty and we met some interesting folk.Lovely stroll to the river a couple of metres away.Great garden lawns for kids to run around.Note no card machine facilities.Rooms are small and dark but adequate and heaters and blankets are provided."

  • "Fantastic place, great hospitality"

    02 June 2013

"Don't let the long, small road to the lodge scare you off. This spot is rather isolated in a nice game park, but once you arrive it almost looks like paradise. We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place by the river very much. Wilna, John and Fiona did everything they could to comfort us. Karee Cottage and the other rooms are comfortable and well equipped. Wilna cooks delicious food. We also had a nice horse ride in the game park. We don't ride very well, but the horses and the instructor are very good. We would very much like to go back one time."

  • "Perfect"

    20 February 2013

"WOW!I have to say my weekend was the best ever. The place is perfect for an easy, relaxed outing. Me and my family had a wonderful time, the staff was just perfect and the food...DELICIOUS. To sum it up, you get to experience the wild life on your way to the lodge. What could be more wonderful than that? Big up to Oori River Lodge."
