  "I have but two gripes with my stay.1: the guys booked next door made sure ignore the rules and make noise right through the night even after we had called the manager to complain...the manager on duty promptly responded to our complaint and asked the guys to tone it down which they did for only 20 minutes.on day two it was a bit useless to complain.the lodge needs to be very strict about this.2: the bed was extremely hard and upon inspection I found that a one sided mattress had been flipped over to obviously hide ver bad stains on the top side of the mattress, why hide them instead of cleaning the mattresses, also the mattress cover was very dirty, we had to again ask the manager on duty to assist of which he promptly attended to the issue.your on duty manager ( STANLEY) I must say is a very pleasant chap as well as the staff that was on duty on both days...Overall it was a very very pleasant and much needed experience, we will be going back definitely."

  "Loved the room we stayed in (stone suite,number 8).The beauty from the balcony was great.I loved the big bath tub and the fact that you could see the bed and balcony while taking a relaxing bath.Stanley was a great manager ,helped where needed and very friendly.Only down fall for the room which could easily be fixed:Bigger Dustin may be needed for outside.Our front door (brown door ) key didn't work so we couldn't lock it.Cold and hot tap heads need to be placed on properly as they fall off from time to time when putting on or off the water."

  "I'll admit i was a little sceptical about the chalet when I saw it on the website but up in arrival my expectations were wonderfully exceeded. Before we arrived we had already met Stanley who very well could drive us to the lodge which his patience, professionalism and very friendly manner. The inside of the chalet is clean and surprisingly quite modern while the wooden floors, charming patios and homely patio furniture gives the place a nostalgic and very cosy feel. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. While walking up the hill to get a better view of the area,Mam Clamencia was kind enough to invite us to come view the area from one of the houses in Blue Sky lodge where some guests had just checked out. Not only was she very friendly but very informative but surprisingly passionate. She spoke of the place as if it were her home and for this reason i would ive to revisit the lodge and stay there. This stay was well worth my time and money."

  "It was really a very nice place. We did have a problem with the TV, (no connection) and they forgot to put the Geyser on. We only found that out very late 21H30, the geyser was then put on but took very long to heat up. They then moved us to a new room. Not very nice to be moved in the middle of a very cold night. At least we got then get into a warm bath! Very friendly and helpfull staff!!!"

The kitchen is unfortunately not properly stocked with crockery and cutlery and there is no oven. Too cook for 6 people when it rained on a three plate stove is a challenge. The linen although clean is old and washed out."

  "The service standards by all were exceptional- from my first contact during the booking, through to the last interaction as I was leaving! An added bonus was having lovely "neighbors" (booked at the unit next to ours) who handled the "surprise visits" from my nephew who is autistic with aplomb! The air conditioners were an issue - some were cold air fans & it was quite nippy, so we needed heaters. The pool needs to be secured (net or other cover) for kids. It would be great to have more facilities for kids' entertainment"

The jacuzzi bath sets it apart from other places available and the views are amazing! There is a lion park just 3 km away and the Ale House's Buchu beer made for a perfect weekend. 10/10!"

  "We stumbled upon Sky Lodge online when looking for a place to stay for a quick getaway from Johannesburg. It's only about an hour's drive or so but it seems to much further away from the city than that! The views from Sky Lodge are beautiful! We liked the set up of the chalet, the braai and pool areas. It's all very comfortable and the landscaping adds to the charm. The fire inside the house smoked a bit but we enjoyed lighting it in the evening. We also tried going for the walk the next day but it wasn't well signposted and we gave up - would be useful if they took a can of spray paint or a can of paint and made little markers on the rocks so that you can tell if you are heading in the right direction or not. It would have been nice to have had a later check-out, too, as we only came for one night but we supposed the had to ready the rooms for other guests... Overall, we were all very pleased, look forward to going back and thought it great value for money."

  "We had a great time, it was a relaxing environment, quiet, nice view of the mountains. We were however disappointed with the maintenance of the establishment. The kitchen although advertised as fully equipped is hardly that. The unit can accommodate over 6 people however there are only 6 pieces of cutlery. This was a disappointment. The kitchen should either be fully equipped or it should be advertised that guests need to bring their own cutlery. There is also no over in the kitchen and this should also be advertised encase guests plan to make use of an oven only to find that there isn't one. Overall a good experience but would only return with the knowledge that the kitchen has been refurbished."

  "Good points: good value, spacious, nice view.Bad points: no GPS co-ordinates (if you are not from around you will for sure get lost, especially when it's dark and stormy), the unpaved roads are terrible (if you don't have a SUV or 4x4, don't recommend it). It's not very clean at some places, found rat poo on pillows in one of the rooms. Shower isn't scrubbed properly, still hair stuck on the walls. No amenities provided. Water pressure for the showers are very weak.It's not a bad place if you just need affordable overnight accommodation for a family or group of friends. Don't have high expectations of anything."

  "My husband and I stayed in one of the Stone Suites at Sky Lodge this weekend, Saturday night, the 18th January 2014. I am sorry to say that we did not enjoy our stay very much, and we were very disappointed in our Sky Lodge experience.We arrived at the lodge quite late on Saturday afternoon, around 15:00, as my husband had to work on Saturday morning. There was no one at the gate to open for us. We rang the bell and called the contact number provided to us, but we had no response. After about 20 minutes, one of the lodge workers doing maintenance hesitantly opened the gate for us. There was also no one at reception when we got there.The unit was not very clean. We know this, as we found an unwanted visitor in our bathroom (a large scorpion!). After we saw the scorpion, we decided to check the unit before going to sleep. Under the bed we found old wrappers, popcorn, dust etc. The window sill in the kitchenette was also filthy, and very dusty. I dont think it has ever been cleaned. We used the swimming pool facility, and the pool and pool area was not clean. Also; there is an awning that creates shade over the pool. The awning is in the process of breaking down. The one side of the awning is attached to a pole that looks like it is about to fall over at any time. This seems very dangerous. Lastly; we did not have any hot water on both Saturday night and Sunday morning. This accommodation cost us R1150.00 for the night. This is not cheap, and we definitely do not feel like we received our moneys worth."

  "Shower door does not work. Jacuzzi did not work. No light for braai area. Switched off at 7pm. For an area that has scorpions and snakes how can u braai safely without light. Disappointing for the price we paid. Had a better time at other venues even at cheaper cost."

  "The access dirt road needs repair, but it was short and it was well worth the beautiful scenery! The cabins are spacious, with double volume ceilings. Everything is neat and clean. At night we heard lions in a distance! The one spa bath was out of order though. Otherwise - it was a peaceful and unforgettable stay!"

  "It was a pleasure to be able to secure a unit at Sky Lodge at such short notice. We were doing a MTB race which started close to Redstone Country Estate, so this was a perfect spot in terms of location. I must say the views (of the dam and beyond) from the deck and the "private braai area" were to die for. That it did not rain was an extra bonus. Daniel was awesome ensuring that we were settled in and helped us arrange extra fire food. The lodge also offers to "rent" out books and games, the cost of which is refunded to you when you return what you borrowed. I would recommend in asking for the Sky Lodge unit close to the conference centre as here you will be able to look over the valley. Thank you for looking after us at our stay."

  "We stayed over during our honeymoon and found the lodge really lovely. The view from the stoep is just incredible and the private Boma was really enjoyable. The Jacuzzi bath is heavenly and the kitchenette offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a fair stretch of unpaved road that was quite tricky due to rain. I don't recommend attempting this road in a car with very low ground clearance, but the drive is well worth it!"

  "Nice place but think a bit expensive for what you get. The outside chairs could be fitted with cushions. The braai was broken - had to use rocks to balance the grid of the braai! Advertise that if you book for lunch you could stay till one in the chalets, but the restaurant doesn't exist anymore, and when asked to stay hour of two longer it wasn't greeted with the hospitality that you expected."
