Jabali means "small mountain" and wild pig. Jabali, as the name indicates, is located at the foot of a mountain aptly named Rhenosterkop and is a private nature reserve with spectacular views over Gauteng. Located just 80 km from Pretoria, it is easily accessible by tar road.
The reserve offers the most spectacular hiking trails encompassing wetlands, mountain and grassland. Jabali is also of great historical importance. During the Boer war the English and Boers battled it out at Rhenosterkop, and visitors will find all kinds of interesting artefacts around the mountain. Visit the graves of the English and the Boers and follow in the footsteps of the early pioneers.

"The weekend started bad as we had to wait w hours for them to open the gate for us!! The rest of the weekend was lovely. The place is peaceful and scenery is beautiful. The chalet needs some attention. Small things like broken knives and egg lifter. The fridge doesn't really make cold enough. I suggest they consider DSTV as the current channels are very fuzzy and reception is bad. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Also they could invest in loungers at the pool with umbrellas for shade. Overall not bad at all."
"Will never again visit this place!!"
"Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Jabali. Spectacular views and very relaxing atmosphere, relatively close to JHB and PTA.We were disappointed in that the water pressure was low and you had to ask for the water pump to be turned on each time you needed hot water for dishwashing or water to shower/bath etc, which we weren't informed of until we mentioned the water situation, once we knew we asked Jabi to put the pump on whenever we needed water. Also the lounge suite in the Kudu chalet was old and grubby perhaps it needs replacing or recovering, we covered them temporarily with the blankets supplied, something to consider. There was no DVD player as advertised, which you need if you like TV when away as the TV channels are ETV and SABC channels only, all out of focus, but was immediately sorted and supplied once brought to attention, very fast service. The Kudu chalet had more bushveld views than mountain views as advertised as the trees and bushes mostly hinder any mountain views.Other than that the chalet was very pleasant and we really enjoyed our break. Jabi, who works for the owners, was an absolute star and was at our beckon call when we reported any problems, he sorted it straight away. Excellent service! We would definitely go back again. Hopefully the minor concerns will be considered as this could be an amazing place to visit for a break from city life and would make the Chalet feel a little closer to luxurious as advertised. Thanks for the great stay."
