SinkShack Guest House

SinkShack is an interesting and funky guest house offering live music in the great restaurant and bar. The guest house has shiny tin walls and neon lights that glow in the night. We are situated in the heart of Mpumalanga.

The restaurant features live music, local fare and a congregation of assorted folk into blues and just having a good time in a small town.

The little town of Bronkhorstspruit that forms the point of a triangle with Rayton and Bapsfontein, about 50 km east of Pretoria, is a little farming community that deserves a visit for the sheer beauty of the area. It is home to the Nan Hua Buddhist Temple, the largest Buddhist temple and seminary in Africa.

Bronkhorstspruit, which began as a railway station, lies on the border between Gauteng and Mpumalanga. The Bronkhorstspruit dam is today a major attraction due to its being one of the most productive bank angling spots in the country. Thick grass line the banks of the dam, which serve as great cover for bass awaiting their bait.

  • "Novelty of the place"

    06 August 2018

"Parking was a problem when we returned from being out for the evening. Curtains could do with block out lining to shut out lights left on at night, otherwise clean and good for overnight."

  • "Getting sent to a different guest house"

    20 March 2017

"We didn't get to stay there. When we arrived to check in, there was alot of confusion. They kept saying they were looking for their diary. When they eventually found it, it was just a sheet of paper and my name wasn't on it. When I told theme I had made the billing via safari now, they were even more confused. The manager and staff on duty didn't know anything about safari now. Bottom line is they were double booked and couldn't accommodate us. We were there for a wedding and we were not the only wedding guests who had the same experience with the sink shack. Other guests were also either displaced or given smaller rims than they had booked. I won't recommend the sink shack to anybody."

  • "Family get-together at SinkShack"

    19 September 2016

"A nice place for parents and their 30 year old siblings to spend a weekend together. Music shows in the evenings without entrance fees, affordable menus, enough space for a family of nine to sit and enjoy music and spend quality time together."

  • "Unique yet affordable spot"

    26 January 2015

"We had a wedding in the area and i just booked according to 'cheapest place to spend the night". When we arrived we were so surprised by what we booked into and I regretted only spending 1 night there. This is a unique spot, clean, has everything you need, and looks like it could be loads of fun if you stay a little longer.Needless to say, we will definitely go back and visit properly."

  • "Bartlett"

    29 June 2014

"From the time we arrived the experience was a horrible one. Their guest reception and handling is terrible and we were not made to feel welcome. The "chalet" we stayed in was the most uncomfortable and basic of accomodation and was not clean. The shower is mouldy and disgusting and is complimented by shaggy over used towels. There were no toiletries available and the place was a disaster. There wasnt even decent coffee facilities! They did not do housekeeping and their pub patrons are noisy and vulgar people who swear and make noise until all hours of the night. Sinkshack is not worthy of being called a guesthouse - they dont even have a decent TV or furniture in the rooms. For the R500 per night, I feel taken advantage of because I was not told to have this as an expectation. Horrible horrible experience and I will never recommend to anyone!"

  • "Great time"

    10 March 2014

"Awesome little place. The backpackers section was great. Only a little piece of advice. There were no mirrors anywhere. Not even in the bathroom. I know you shouldn't expect too much from a backpackers but a mirror would be great."

  • "Great spot!"

    10 March 2014

"We would highly recommend this guesthouse, and we will definitely be back. The staff were all very friendly and very accommodating. The bar and restaurant was such fun, not to mention the incredible talent who kept us entertained. It was an all round really great experience. Thanks guys, we will be telling all our friends about your fabulous spot."
