"Not a pleasant stay"

"I was not impressed with the Brooklyn Guesthouses. Initially the individual at reception couldn't locateour booking whichhad been made through SafariNow. Then during the night, whichturned out to bequite cold we found out that the air conditioner wasn't working, so we couldn't use the heater. To add to this, in the morning of our departure, we only had limited hot waterto runone bath. The breakfast menu was also very limited and although it was indicated that breakfast was from 7-9am and we had to rush to get to the restaurant in time, we still noticed guests arriving for breakfast way after 9am, which made the rules of the establishment seem somewhat trivial. All around not a pleasant stay, will only recommend the establishment as a last resort."

"This is our second stay at this establishment. The location is very convenient to University of Pretoria and there is a shopping mall nearby. The neighborhood is nice. The grounds are nice and there is a swimming pool, although the water did not look too clear. Breakfast is fine. We had dinner here and it was fine. As noted in previous visit some attention to detail and cleanliness is probably needed. One of our chairs in the room was broken and not very safe to use. This time our air conditioned room was fine and clean and the AC worked well. Internet a bit slow in the room. I requested an iron and ironing board and the iron was in very poor shaped. It leaked water all over me when I tried to refill it with water. Both our pants were badly stained when we sat in the restaurant. Apparently the seats had some kind of sauce or food remains. Fortunately the stains came off. This is something that has not happened to us very frequently in the numerous restaurants in many countries we have visited. Better communication between management and staff is needed. I was told numerous times to place my laundry on the bed with the sheet filled out. When I asked the maid that came to clean the room she said she was off that day at noon so she could not really do it and there would be no one to do it. Obviously communication is not taking place so staff and management know what to tell the guests. The staff is friendly. Parking is ok. May try a different place next time."
