  "More of a motel than a hotel. Definetly not what we expected from Country Hotels. Room was right next to a noisy generator or fan. Rooms are old and very dated. No bedside lamps. Room full of mozzies. Didnt eat there as there are better options at other guest houses in town. Mattresses and pillows are lumpy. Expensive for the quality of accommodation."

  "The staff was very pleasant. <br />We were well received and enjoyed the stay.<br />The door of room H36 need to be properly fixed so that it can close properly. It felt like people can look in even if the door is closed. The latches must be removed from the outside of the doors. <br />"

  "What stood out for me about the Calvinia Hotel was the friendliness of the management and staff. The rooftop splash pool was perfect on a sweltering afternoon after a long drive and it was fun to keep an eye on the goings on in the street from the pool.The hotel was spick and span."

  "We travelled by bike and arrived in the heat of the day. The receptionist booking us in were not very friendly and although she saw that we were tired and hot wanted us to attend to the payment although they had more than half of their payment already. The swimming pool very impersonal on top of roof overlooking the main street - If you stand up the people in the street can see you. My room was good but one of my friends had a room that was not very clean and when you showered all the water ended up on the floor. The restaurant staff can be more attentive - waited long for service and did not come again to ask if anybody wanted anything else - breakfast expensive for what you got"

  "Great hotel - make sure to ask for a room with A/C. Also, the rooms at the back are across the street from four noisy, irritating barking dogs. However, management moved us when we asked. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, however common drinks were limited (no Sprite, lemonade, Amstel). All in all a great experience and I would definitely go back."

  "The hotel dinning room was disappointing. No soup of the day, Lamb Chops were overpriced and prepared by smothering them with a basting sauce tasting of Marmite and burnt as if a sacrifice.Single room had no heating in the middle of winter with an overnight of -2C"
