Smiling Tree Guesthouse - Carltonville is situated in the mining town of Carltonville, west of Johannesburg. We promise our guests only the most comfortable accommodation, good security and the friendliest of service.

We are located in a central part of town that has easy access to the shopping centres, banks and restaurants. This guest house consists of a Luxury Unit, a Double Room and a Triple Room, and is ideal for business or leisure travellers looking for a quiet place to rest.

This busy little town is home to one of the richest gold-producing parts of the world. One of the towns major mines is called Western Deep Levels as it is one of the world's deepest mines. Surrounded by a further seven mines, the town of Carltonville's saving grace is in the Abe Bailey Nature Reserve that lies just outside of it. This grassland is a sanctuary of wetland, where birdwatching is well rewarded with the prospect of seeing at least 60 species on any given morning, as well as being a lovey shady picnic site for day visitors.

"Poor communication"

"I had a few problems with booking with this Guest house. The first problem is the fact that the owner/manager has still not replied my email with an enquiry with regards to my booking. Secondly the accommodation and the specific room I book was advertised for R350/night. I paid R427/night and yes I am aware that there is different prices per room. But I specifically booked the room for R350. Thirdly I received an email that confirmed my booking but when I arrived at the guest house the receptionist was unaware of my arrival. Lastly I had to follow up for my payment and stay confirmation again the owner/manager did not attend to this. Overall poor management and communication."

"Carletonville guesthouse offers true value for money. It is clean and safe. The hospitality is also commendable. My booking was however not confirmed with the guesthouse so when I arrived there was no room for me. I paid in full on the 14 February for arrival on 21 Feb. Maybe I paid way too early!"
