"We loved the spectacular views, the comfortable homely cottage and Lena was friendly and very hard working. We would have liked a regular supply of firewood (or information on where to obtain some) for the fireplace."
"We loved the location and the tranquil environment. The historic appeal of the place is intriguing. The accommodation is need of upgrades to floor, beds and bath facility."
"No luxuries, but everything you need at this quiet Log Cabin. Very high up and close to the Berg. The view is spectacular. The road towards the house needs urgent maintenance though. Difficult for low built cars to manage, especially when wet."
"The hospitality of the receptionist (Dianne) was great. The levy for the cleaning lady which had to be paid (R200.00) is a spot of bother as I am not aware what this is for. No cleaning was done in the period we were there."
"We loved the fireplace. The mattresses are of good quality. Kitchen well equipped. Most of the sitting room furniture is sub-standard. The water pressure of the hot water system in the bathroom is VERY poor."
"We loved the setting of Pumula, high up above the valley , with a superb view on Champagne, Cathkin Peak and the rest. The quiet environment and beautiful nature is breathtaking and unreal. Although the log cabin house needs some attention on the inside, it is very comfortable and has a very good equipped kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed reading the typed history of Dr Verster, alias Dr Goedhart, who built the house after he turned 70. Dr Goedhart was well known to our age group; he wrote articles about health in Die Burger when we grew up and was like a GP in the house. We also found the district and things goiing on there, very entertaining. Diana Wilkinson, the overseer, welcomed us so friendly , we felt at home immediately. We would like to go there again."
"Perfect location for a Berg getaway! Views were incredible & was everything we needed. Was great during our stay, but may just be too cold in the middle of winter with no heaters, electric blankets or showers (baths only)."
"Incredible view of the Berg from this wooden Cottage. Big spacious rooms, bathrooms and living area with a fire place. Well equiped kitchen. Beautiful maintained garden and wooden table and seats for meals outside. Very quiet and peaceful. A Cottage with character and a history. Not luxurious but has everything you need. Poor internet reception in this part of the Berg. Will definately be back for the view and tranquility each year."
"View was spectacular. Accommodation left a lot to be desired. A very old, poorly maintained building, with poor access."
"it is one of the most scenic place I have visited. little attention should be given to the sanware and taps. The livingroom was amazing, and I will definitely visit again."
"Spent a lovely time at Pumula - really a great destination for a family or small group of friends who wants to spend quality time together in the tranquility of the Drakensberg. Simple but functional accomodation that provides a wonderful base for outings and hikes, or just spend time together on the lovely lawn or under the big tree with the picnic bench - great value for money!"
"Hi the interiors of the cottages need up datingand carpets replace but I did enjoy my staybeautifull surrondings"
"One of the best view in the Champagne Valley."
"this place is in such a beautiful location and has an old worldly charm -"
"VISUALLY STUNNING , COSY WITH A OLD WORLD CHARM .... TRULY BEAUTIFUL ... WILL RETURN FOR SURE ....NAMASTE"
"What a great place to stay....and such a surprise to get there and see the huge lounge and two separate bedroom areas....beautiful original log cabins built by the original owner. And right in the heart of the berg with views of Champaigne Castle.<br />Thank you Dianna for welcoming us.<br />"
"Tranquil, homely, comfortable and very close to the mountains. What a wonderful, restful place."
"Although Pumula is very rustic, the views are fantastic and the solid log and thatch roof make for a charming stay. The bedrooms are in a separate cottage to the lounge, dining room and kitchen so you need to go outside to access them. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are separated by half walls and the 2 bathrooms have only baths and no shower."
"We enjoyed our stay at Pumula. It is quote rustic but more than adequate. The proximity to Monk's Cowl Reserve is the real bonus."
"Wonderful place - so serene. A little piece of heaven. We really enjoyed our stay. thank you"
