  • "Tranquility at its best"

    23 July 2019

"A perfect weekend getaway. We spent two nights at Gecko Creek. We were welcomed warmly on arrival, taken on a tour of all facilities and were then shown to our cabin that has a picturesque view. Beauty surrounds you at every moment. Kitchen, braai and ablution facilities were all great. Meeting Maliko was the highlight of our trip. He took us on a sunset hike up onto Leopard Rock where he played drums and we watched the sun go down. The next morning we joined him for a sunrise meditation up on the mountain to welcome the sun. His views on life and the authenticity of his soul has touched our lives in ways we cannot even begin to explain. All in all, the most wonderful experience to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. We will definitely be back."

  • "The beautifull Stars"

    07 September 2017

"We loved the stay but it is a bit to primitive for our liking. Have to walk to your cabin in sand that is like sea sand with all your luggage. Cabins are quite far from ablution block and kitchen. The people are friendly and the bonfire at night makes the stay better."

  • "Perfect place to Relax!"

    31 October 2016

"What a wonderful weekend! Me and my husband had such a great time relaxing at Gecko Creek. Simple accommodation with everything that you might need in the communal kitchen. Chilling on the bean bags around a fire and looking at the stars was just one of the things we loved about this place. Lovely hospitality, beautiful scenery - one of the best bookings we have made to date!"

"<p>We enjoyed a brilliant evening at Gecko Creek staying in one of their log cabins. The camp is very rustic and pleasant. Everything works and the hospitality is superb!!</p><p>Wonderful boma evening braaing and chilling in bean bags around a fire star gazing.</p><p>Sorry we were not there for a week, but hope to return soon.</p><p>An excellent base to explore the Cedarberg.</p>"

  • "Weekend of bliss!"

    15 February 2016

"My stay at Gecko Creek was nothing short of spectacular! The staff are extremely accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. The setup of the camp is nicely spaced out so that you can be away from other guests when you want to switch off completely, but the interaction at the communal kitchen and the boma really make the experience more special.<div><br /></div><div>I would highly recommend Gecko Creek for a weekend away with lots of hikes and activities in the area that leave you breathless!</div>"

  • "Peaceful, but basic."

    31 December 2015

"Gecko Creek is ideally located for those who wish to explore the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The heat was unbearable and unfortunately this marred our stay there. (Obviously very little that Management can do about that). The venue offers basic accommodation and amenities - more suited for budget travellers / backpackers rather than a family such as ours.<br />"

  • "Lovely little getaway"

    26 October 2015

"Thanks to everyone at Gecko Creek who made our stay so enjoyable! The tent was neat and more than sufficient, the amenities were great, and so were the family of guests already there when we got there :) I think the place lends itself to an atmosphere of homeliness and comfort that everyone felt familiar over rugby, beer and a braai. The drum circle was a highlight for me, as were the scenic hiking trails and well-located pool. We definitely recommend this lodge and will be back again :) Thank you."

  • "Relax"

    19 October 2015

"<p>If solitude and the opportunity to relax is what you looking for then Gecko Creek has that for you. </p><p>The communal lapa, kitchen and ablutions allows for interaction with your fellow guests and reminds one strongly of ones backpacker years. Inour opinion the wooden huts has the best view and is best suited for a bit ofsolitude.Sitting around the campfire and watching the stars is great and if you want to be catered for then that option is available as well.</p><p>We would definitely visit again and for a longer time.</p>"

  • "Gecko Creek"

    11 September 2013

"Our stay was memorable. Had no food the first night and John cooked up a storm for us...was much appreciated. Also took us to photograph Elephant Rock. Communal braai was a great place to meet and eat.Highly recommended by all of us. (8 Germans in all). Will definitely return sometime again."

  • "Mixed review"

    10 April 2013

"If you like camping / backpacking / socialising, this is the perfect place. Awesome scenery and beautiful common areas. As a last stop-over after a 2-week self-catering road trip however, we were not prepared for the long trip to the ablution blocks, not being able to drive to our room to unpack, and the very basic although very comfortable room (literally, a bed only). However that was our overlook and the place is definitely highly recommended if you know exactly what to expect! Thanks Ingied, and we hope the wolf gets better."

  • "A bit of wilderness heaven!"

    04 February 2013

"Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge is a gem nestled in the beautiful Cederberg. It’s a great place for an escape to the wilderness. It’s a place to relax! I observed nature in its splendour from the hammock outside my hut. The facilities of Gecko Creek have been well designed. Great effort has been given to making this bit of wilderness very comfortable. Amazing ablution facilities, a wonderful boma for braais and bon fires, and a well equipped kitchen and dining area. Gecko Creek is the type of place that you would truly visit more than once, and all the other guests sharing the lodge with me at the time had either been there before, or sure to return! It’s also well located to access many of the hikes in the Cederberg area. Thanks to Linton and Ingrid for making my stay so enjoyable."

This is definitely a highly suggested holiday location and we are going back first chance we get!"
