Jamaka Organic Farm

Jamaka Organic Farm is a family run organic citrus and mango farm offering accommodation in ten cottages and in a popular riverside campsite. The farm is situated only 230 km from Cape Town in the Ceder Mountains.

The 10 self-catering cottages can sleep four to 14 people each. The shaded campsites are located on the banks of the Rondegat River and have braai areas and a number of natural rock pools nearby for swimming.

The farm offers a variety of hiking trails starting from the campsite and the waterfall at Algeria and the Bushman paintings on the neighbouring farm are popular attractions. The Wolfberg Cracks, Wolfberg Arch, Maltese Cross and Stadsaal Caves can easily be reached from here. Donkey cart rides are popular for kids and adults and are available over weekends and peak periods.

  • "Highlights were the view, bird-life, tranquility and mountains."

  • "Lovely!!!"

    19 December 2016

"We had a lovely 3 days at Jamaka Campsite over the long weekend.

The owners were friendly, helpful and very quick to act when we had issues with another campsite playing music until late.

The site's themselves were lovely, lots of shade and decent privacy considering the campsite was completely full.

We will certainly be coming back :)"

  • "Not impressed with Jamaka farm"

    05 January 2014

"We stayed at one of the cottages at Jamaka farm. While the view from the house is breathtakingly beautiful unfortunately I cannot say the same for the condition of the chalet. The furnishings were sparse mismatched and outdated. The bed and bedding were terrible and totally unacceptable. The chalet is advertised as fully equipped but no towels were supplied. No special touches not even complimentary shampoos). The house was located on the farm which was terribly untidy. No activities on the farm besides a pool with absolutely no shade and located too close to the office with no privacy at all. I would not recommend this particular cottage to anyone."

"Wat 'n onvergeetlike oorslaap. So gerieflik vir 'n kothuis tussen niks en nrens. We had a wonderful evening and morning!"

  • "Constructive comments on Jamaka"

    01 September 2013

"I would love to recommend Jamaka - the setting is exquisite, the owners (the Niewoudt family) are charming, the cottage was fine EXCEPT for the following, which I feel require attention:1. The electrical equipment in the kitchen was impressive, but the other equipment was lacking, eg. no frying pan, etc.2. No towels were supplied and no mention of this was made even after my personal enquiry as to the self-catering facilities. Admittedly, on request we were given towels, but I found this embarrassing.3. The bed and mattress were unacceptable.4. Nice diningroom table and chairs and excellent fireplace, but no lounge chairs to sit round the fire We had to use the diningroom chairs. Also no carpet or mats, just cold, tiled floor.I never complain (having run a 21-bedroom 4-star hotel myself for over 10 years some years ago) and this is not meant as a complaint, but I am saddened that I cannot recommend Jamaka to friends for the reasons stated above, which could be so easily remedied."
