Nuwerust Rest Camp

Nuwerust Rest Camp offers self-catering accommodation and Campsites in the beautiful Breekrans River Valley. It has a rich history and offers the ideal getaway for the entire family.

We have five self-catering cottages that can accommodate between four and eight guests. Each cottage has a kitchen and ample sleeping space. They are well equipped but bedding, towels, toilet paper, kitchen towels and detergent are not provided. Bedding is available on request at an additional fee. Each cottage has a fireplace and braai facilities. Guests can purchase wood at the farm shop, along with other household necessities.

The farm also has a large Campsite with communal ablution facilities offering hot water showers and power points. There is a lapa area with DStv for sporting events; a large boma fireplace and bar facilities. There is a large dam swimming pool available for guests to relax and cool off in.

The area is ideal for those seeking adventure. The mountain range offers plenty of opportunity for mountain and rock climbing, 4x4 trails and walking or hiking trails.

"Any time in the water was great - the pool or at Maalgat (near Sandrift). The scenery and vivid profiles of the landscape - the clarity of the stars in the night sky, being disconnected from tech - all great!! Could definitely have benefited from bringing a fan (or having fans provided?) - especially when 40 plus! Kitchen was well equipped. Window mesh to keep the bugs out and the cool night air in?"

"Accommodation was clean and comfortable, reasonably well equipped. However, the lighting in the lounge is very poor,, making it almost impossible to read at night .Also, there is no information offered about hiking trails or other activities... the owners were away, and the stand -in manager didn't know. Suggest putting up a simple map in the office or other public spot"

"Entrust is a lovely place to get away, and the people, Steven & Louise full of old world charm. There are, however, some vital points to take note of, that you only discover after you've booked. The directions they give you cover approximately 71km's of gravel road that I'm sure in certain seasons can only be driven in 4x4. Make sure you have a spare tyre as we and some other people we spotted along the way burst one. The people there were kind enough 2 advise us on an alternate route, but this one was a fair distance of gravel road and windy bends as well. Both ways the distance covered is lengthened in time due to having to drive slower, and had we known this, we would not have chosen this place for a 1 night stay. Once you get there though, the setting is breathtaking. Make sure to check that there is water in the pool before you go (was empty when we arrived and was something the kids were looking forward to) especially if you're not keen to swim in a river. Lucky for us, the river was amazing! The accommodation we were put in was a prefab building, and very rustic. They were happy to move us when asked though and though the accommodation did not have 4 rooms as told, or was a lot better than the 4 roomed one. Despite these minor hick ups, our stay was a pleasant one, and we would definitely consider going back for a longer period of time and better prepared for the travelling!"
