Petersfield Mountain Cottages

Petersfield Mountain Cottages is delightful self-catering accommodation, less than a two-hour drive from Cape Town in the golden valley of Citrusdal. Petersfield is an export citrus and rooibos tea mountain estate, overlooking the majestic Cederberg Mountain Range and the lush orchards of the fertile valley.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our accommodation and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. We offer four fully equipped self-catering cottages, situated more than 1 km apart in a 2000 hectare mountain wilderness area. Each cottage has a distinct character and ambiance, all with unique settings, private plunge pools and privacy.

Several hiking, mountain biking and 4x4 trails in the pristine fynbos mountain provide an opportunity to enjoy the unique ecological splendour of the Western Cape.

Small game abounds around De Kom Cottage and during the late afternoons guests can watch as eagles hunt for basking dassies on the cliffs in front of the cottage. There is a secluded mountain dam approximately 300 m from the cottage as well.

With the emphasis on comfort and complete privacy, Dassieklip Cottage provides every modern convenience.

Die Veepos Cottage is the latest and most spacious addition to Petersfield, offering a luxurious country experience for larger groups or families. In a beautiful setting, nestled against a magnificent rock outcrop, it is completely private with beautiful views over the Olifants River Valley to the north.

Stonehaven Cottage is set high on the mountainside surrounded by fynbos and sandstone formations and boasts spectacular views over the valleys and onto the impressive Cederberg Mountains. It was designed to accommodate one couple only. The accent is on romance and total privacy and the setting would appeal to honeymooners and couples seeking a chic bush getaway.

"Peace Serenity Quiet Mountains and Birds and Splash Pool"

"My Partner Edward & I stayed at De Kom Cottage from 24th to 26th February. It was our romantic 2nd year getaway. It was breathtaking and awesome. We went luckily when weather was hot and enjoyed the little pool. It is very private. So we had a most relaxing romantic 3 days. If you want some alone time with your partner only this is the place. If you 6 people and have kids it will be also absolutely awesome for everyone. Everything was clean and in place. We are definitely going again. Maybe next time we have some friends with just to show them this great place. I recommend to anyone wanting No TV and also if you wish to get off your phonr also nice for a change. People can talk and spend time together without their fb and whatsapp. The signal comes and goes when you walk out the cottage. Thanks Hedley and Thanks John for the warm welcome and making us feel thrilled to be there. I have recommended the family and friends already. Warm regards Juliet & Edward"

"We loved the fact that we arrived in our own time, we made ourselves at home, we didn't feel the need to be greeted by anyone, although John Ross was very helpful over the phone if we needed anything (like extra firewood). We had a wonderful stay, very restful, lovely, this was our second visit and we will be returning again :)"

"What a wonderful way to spend a weekend! We stayed in De Kom, which is very far from all the other cottages, and it felt like we were all alone in the world with our pool, hammock, deck chairs to enjoy the fabulous view from. The cottage is very well equipped and we had all we needed there. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and makes a great stay even better. We will most definitely return!"
