Cedarwood Cottage

Cedarwood Cottage is situated in the picturesque Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg. It is a cosy self-catering cottage located in a tranquil setting with magnificent views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The fully equipped cottage offers four bedrooms sleeping eight people, two rooms with queen beds and an en-suite shower and a toilet, and two rooms with two single beds in each and a bathroom with a bath and a toilet. The cottage is fully furnished with a fridge, a stove, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a TV with a DStv decoder. Levy charge for the use of the decoder is R30 per day.

Please note that due to its position and use of the eco-friendly septic tank waste system, the cottage is likely to drain much slower than it would at your own home.

There is a braai situated under a covered wooden deck overlooking the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains. We are located within easy access to all amenities and activities in the area which includes a unique shopping experience at Cedarwood Shopping Centre, fine hotels, golf, tennis, squash, bird watching, quad biking, fishing, horse riding, the Adventure Centre, Drakensberg Canopy Tours, and concerts at the Drakensberg Boys Choir, plus loads more.

The cottage is only a four-hour drive from Johannesburg and two hours from Durban, making it ideal for a weekend getaway or a longer, more leisurely stay.

As we are out in the countryside, there are no high fences, no barbwire and no security gates.

"Great to be in one cottage all together, nice and spacious with two main rooms en suite. A shower could be added to the third bathroom as no one made use of the bath and we had to share bathrooms to all benefit from showering.The braai area was unfortunately exposed and not under cover so two of the four nights were ruined by the rain killing the fire.Although we had rain four of the five days Cedarwood is conveniently situated with spectacular views over Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak with a short drive to Monks Cowl for all the major walks."

"Layout of house. Security could be improved . Very open , no security. Know they haven't had issues but matter of time I think . Stove not working. Kitchen well equipped other than cleaning agents ... lovely maid Elizabeth who can come in to service at an extra cost.No soap in bathrooms but possibly a mistake Lovely views and close to shops and other facilities"

"It is our third time returning to Cedarhouse. We love the space and the proximity to Drakensberg Boys Choir School. The view of the mountain from the patio is unparalleled. There were a few areas that could be improved and these include ensuring that all rooms have lighting-the living area lights were out. A serious area of concern was the open sewage drain next to the house as you drive in. This must be attended urgently. Except for the maintennance issues we would still return and recommend Cedarwoods Cottage."

"What a lovely and well furnished cottage. Very central to the berg and well located to go just about anywhere. Not too much privacy outside the cottage though, as it is adjacent to a little shopping complex and many feet pass by close-by, though it never created an issue"

"We had a lovely stay at Cedarwood Cottage. Perfect for taking the grandparents along as there are two main rooms of which one is set slightly away from the other main room and two smaller rooms. The cottage was clean and well kept.The views from the cottage are breath taking when you sit on the 'stoep'.The cottage is situated near many great places to visit. My children are still little, but I think it will be great to stay there when they are teenagers too."

"I took our family (3 kids and my wife) to the Drakensberg and we wanted to be away from everyone in a stunning location and just do our own thing. The house has everything you need and is a class above many other places with similar prices. Loved our holiday and will hopefully be back soon."

"Beatiful views. Beautiful interior, although beds need to be upgraded. Close to other facilities. Property should be fenced in. Ligthing, bathroom plumbing, and general cleanliness need attention. Maybe add some kiddes facilities. I have stayed in better places for much less cost wise."

"Cedarwood Cottage near Winterton is a lovely, comfortable house with fantastic views of the Drakensberg! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was too short.
