  • "Management - Kind & caring"

    09 November 2018

"I would just like to thank Champagne Cottages for being so kind and caring especially to my Dad. when we got there the Friday it was freezing and because it was late and it its not the winter season they did not have wood logs on hand for the fire place but they went all out for my dad and got us a gas heater. I am forever grateful!"

  • "Peaceful surroundings"

    17 July 2018

"I am giving Champagne Cottages two stars because of the beautiful and peaceful surroundings, for the nice fireplace in the cottage and for having hot water. Otherwise the cottage we stayed in (Swallow) does not resemble anything as per the photos on their website. It is very small, very cramped, very dirty and very old. There were lots of spider webs and some of the dishes and cutlery were still dirty when we took them out of the cupboard and the couches and chairs were also dirty. The shower was mouldy with black mould clearly visible on the grout between the tiles and on the ceiling. The fridge is small, there is a 2 plate stove, a small microwave without any microwave dishes and limited utensils. We do not mind old, but dirty is not acceptable. We looked for alternative accommodation, but unfortunately everything was fully booked. It is a self catering cottage and one would expect the stove to work and the braai to be usable, but only one of the two stove plates worked and the braai is so shallow that it is not practical to use at all. We used rocks from the garden to lift the very flimsy braai grid. The braai is on the stoep and with no chimney all the smoke was blown into the cottage leaving us teary eyed and everything smelling of smoke. The spare linen provided for the sleeper couch was very old and we were sure that it would disintegrate if we used it.Because the cottage is so small, we used the bed for our clothes and suitcases and my husband, I and our 6-year old all slept very uncomfortably on the sleeper couch. This was the thirds place we stayed over on our vacation and by far the most expensive and by far the worst accommodation I have ever slept in."

  • "well located good value basic accomodation"

    16 July 2018

"While the accommodation was a lot more basic than we expected it was still very comfortable and homey. The mattresses on the beds were pretty sad and after 10 days our backs were killing us. The photos on the website were also somewhat misleading and really need to include the view - which the eagle lodge was missing due to the thick - we assume - planted wind break. We fell in love with your delightful flat faced kitty who moved in with us for the period. Just wish we could have taken her home."

  • "The view"

    11 July 2018

"The honeymoon couple was very disappointed with the quality of things in the chalet. The sheets were torn, there were no towels and not even a bit of dishwashing liquid. The cottages really need some attention. The location however was wonderful."

    19 January 2018

"Champagne Cottages is an awesome place to escape to if you need to just get away from the rat race and fully unwind.Beautiful views, fresh air, lots to do on the property and in the surrounding areas! The accommodation (especially Eagle cottage) is quaint yet very spacious, there is a bit of damp in the house but other than that we would definitely go back for a break away.Nicky and her team were warm and helpful, always willing to assist."

  • "January Stay"
