Farhills Guest House

Far Hills Guesthouse is situated in central Drakensberg, on route to Champagne Sports Resort and neighbouring Valley Bakery. It has always been a place where families gather, spending many special memories.

This lovely house has five spacious double bedrooms with four bathrooms. A large fully equipped kitchen is ideal for self-catering guests, leading to the open-plan living area. There is a spacious veranda overlooking the wonderful Cathkin Mountain.

Next to the main house is a private cottage with two double bedrooms, a full bathroom, a small lounge and a kitchenette.

The large garden surrounding the house has plenty of space for fun outdoor activities, such as cricket matches. There is also a peaceful picnic- and swimming spot just 300m from the house, along the river.

Your hosts can take guests on a mountain bike ride over the tops of the mountains, or a child-friendly ride through the farm on request. Other activities in the area include river rafting, hiking trails, zip-lining and horse riding to name but a few.

  • "Lovely, spacious, secluded home away from home"

"Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Private, clean, perfectly located gem in the mountains with a private pool braai area. Close to many activities in the Central Drakensberg area. We booked the Main house and the Cottage for our huge family. The little children loved sleeping in the Cottage as they felt that was their own little home."

    "Spacious & comfortable."

  • "Great location but fell short"

"We stayed as a family of 4 this past weekend in the guest cottage. The bedrooms are great and very comfortable, but that was about it - overall I felt it was overpriced. The lounge/kitchen is really tiny, but we weren't there to spend that much time inside, so that wasn't a huge issue, but if you do want to cook a meal and eat inside, there is no where to do so, unless you eat on your lap or 2 people sit at the small kitchen counter. Cooking facilities include a microwave on top of the fridge - not easy to get stuff in and out of and a 2 plate stove on top of a counter oven. Wish this had been communicated to us beforehand so we had not planned on cooking breakfast ourselves.<div>There were no bulbs in the lamp in the 2nd bedroom, there were only 2 toilet rolls supplied for the whole weekend and on the first morning the housekeeper arrived at 11am to do the dishes, which we had already done ourselves by then and then no one came at all on the 2nd day. The bathroom had no bathmats - just freezing cold tiles and an open shower, so water goes everywhere. The main bedroom has a mirror on the wall and an empty gap underneath it, where a dresser of sorts should go but there was none, so there is nowhere to put your personal belongings - not even a chair in this bedroom.</div><div>I think the main house is much better but also don't know if this is serviced, so for the price being charged at Farhills, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere in future.</div>"
