Riverside Gastehuis

This is a comfortable guest house with a charming rustic style, situated right on the banks of the Vaal River in Christiana. The town is located on the N12 between Bloemhof and Warrenton, on-route to Kimberley.

We offer fourteen bedrooms with queen-size beds and en-suite bathrooms. This is the ideal accommodation for a large family or a group of close friends, as all the facilities are shared. There is a beautiful swimming pool set in a beautiful garden, and a lapa next to the pool with braai facilities.

Christiana is an agricultural suburb in the North West of South Africa and became well known for its discovery of diamonds in 1870. It was named after President Pretoriuss only daughter and is today still a popular farming community.

"I must say that i loved all of it ! i loved the bed the most because of the thickness of the duwett ... we loved the stay there over the weekend thank you very much. the view is great !"

"Annemarie was pleasant but the facilities not well managed. Our room had only one sachet of coffee and powdered milkboth nights - Ricoffy at that ! - there were two of us and two mugs? The bathroom was so small that you had to squeeze past the toilet to get into the shower - there was about 30cm between the toilet and the shower and nolid on the toilet and no door on the bathroom either! One couldn't even sit on the toilet normally if you were tall. No place to hang the towels. We had no hot water the first night as no one explained that we had to wait for ages running/wasting the water until hot water appeared. No mirror in the bathroom nor light so very difficult for my husband to shave. Our friends in the other room also had no hot water and the kettle had to be boiled on the stairway as there was no other power point.We also had only one pillow each and no bedside lamps. The beds were comfortable and warm at least butR650 pp pnight bed only it wasn'tgood value and we certainly won't be back."

"The owner was extremely rude. We asked for extra blankets and she refused to give us any. My daughter had a thin mattress on the floor. She said the underfloor heating was adequate. The underfloor heating was 1m x 1m block and did not work properly. We could not use the aircon to heat up the place as it tripped the lights. Only two sachets of coffee but there are 4 x mugs? The towel rail was inside the shower? A bit backwards..... No reception area. 4 x towels but she knew we would be 5 x guests. We booked 2 x rooms, it was one family room with loft. We asked her to move us into another room and she said she did not carry guests suitcases! I do not know if this is an accredited place but it should not be! This place is on the river. In winter they should have electric blankets. I will never ever go back."

"Ek het al by baie gastehuise geslaap en Riverside gastehuis vat die koek saam die kersie. Die kamers was ruim en die uitsig op die rivier pragtig. Dit was baie lekker. Dankie vir die puik diens. I have been to many guest houses and Riverside Guesthouse takes the cake with the icing. The rooms were spacious and the view of the beautiful river. It was very nice. Thank you for the excellent service."

"More than expected and very good setting. It is a pitty that Safarinow did not let us have a contact number. We battled to find the place. The owner of the guest house tried to contact us but had been given the wrong cell number."
