It has been said that Buccaneers is a bit like a village because of the way it is spread over eight hectares of wild coastal forest right next to the stunning Chintsa Beach. Many describe it as a place to come home to and a legend in its own time. For us it is home and for the past 12 years we have been sharing it with people just like you - travellers from all over the world.
We have created a wide range of accommodation and activities to suit many different needs. Buccaneers Lodge is a haven of tranquility and natural delights. Guests can enjoy quiet beach walks or canoe trips up the Chintsa River or reading a book in the secret bird hide on our own dam. Buccaneers has a lovely lively bar which has certainly seen some great revelry in its time. Our stunning tropical pool is a busy spot in the summer months when a gorgeous poolside caf offers decidedly decadent refreshments including divine pizzas. Every day we have some sort of free activity so you can relax and meet the rest of the gang.
Meals are optional but hard to resist. A different dinner is available every night and we always offer a good vegetarian option. We offer famous candlelit dinner parties three times a week and hearty meals in the pub. Breakfasts are leisurely affairs taken in the View of Africa Room with its sweeping views of the Chintsa Bay.
Activities available include marvellous beach horse rides, an excellent surf school, divinely relaxing massages, Chintsa Beach and country bicycle rides, and weekly visits to Bulugha Farm School for a heart-warming Xhosa concert and a chance for you to contribute to our feeding scheme. Right on our doorstep, the Inkwenkwezi Big 5 Game Reserve offers excellent game drives and a unique opportunity to get up close to elephants.
"Camped in tents. Equipped kitchen with gasstoves, cutlery, fridges and enclosed patio made cooking a breeze. Or you can opt for set menu dinners and breakfasts with a superb view. Enjoy a game of volleyball next to the pool, or relax in the bar or any of the lounges. Our favourite backpackers."
"Very spacious accommodation, and the meals provided were delicious. Staff very friendly and accommodating, nice vibe about the place with lots of activities. Will revisit"
"Buccaneers is a lovely little spot, with loads to do. We really enjoyed our stay! If you don't mind your lodging being a bit rustic, this is the perfect place!"
"We had a wonderful, albeit far to short weekend away at Buccaneers. We stayed at the campsite which has great facilities- spotless bathrooms with 'outdoor' showers and well equipped kitchen. The staff are super friendly and we really enjoyed the community spirit of all the fellow backpackers. Stay for the free breakfast on Sunday, what a treat. The area is gorgeous, use of the canoes is free. Great pool area with volley ball, tight rope, trampoline. Can't wait for a next trip here where we definitely want to go horse riding and go to Tea in the Trees"
"This was my second time at Buccaneers, and as always, I had such a lovely holiday. Sal has such a passion for what she does and that comes through in all the small details of the lodge - through the artwork adorning all the walls to the handmade flower arrangements in the dining area. This is a sacred place! One to be visited over and over again."
"We loved our stay here. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, the food was great and very reasonably priced, the hosts and staff were friendly and the setting is absolutely beautiful. Lots of activities as well, and many of them offered at no charge. Everything that is needed for a perfectly relaxing holiday!"

"Stayed for two nights at Buccaneers. What a perfect spot on the Wild Coast. Accommodation is beautiful with fantastic seaviews. The sound of the waves carry you to sleep. The poolbar serves delicious lunches and the breakfast is just great. We'll definitely go back."
"We had such great time at Buccs. The camping sites are wonderful, the communal kitchen area and toilets/ showers were always clean. The staff are friendly and extremely helpfull. The best was the pool bar and poolside cafe, had the tastiest pizzas. The effort that establishment makes to provide entertainment to the guests is mindblowing, we had volleyball competitions, beach and pool parties, etc. We will definietly return, please keep up the standard of service and offering."
"Beautiful situation. Could do with a bit of a good clean though.Great food."
"Twee van ons het twee nagte in die kampeerterrein gebly. Die gronde was nat en modderig, die gras lank. Die kombuis was baie, baie vuil, skottelgoed oral gepak. Ook die toilette was vuil. Daar is eers skoongemaak nadat ek gekla het. Die grondpad na Buccaneers is baie klipperig en sleg."
"Had such a wonderful time. Great atmosphere and friendly staff and decent pricing. The place is amazing."
"Buccs was really an awesome place to rough it up for the first time. They are well organized. It is a beautifull place. We loved the bird life, the lagoon, the flat beach where my kids could just play nonstop. Overall loved it!"
