Olifantsrus Guest House

Just 180 km from Cape Town along the N7, over the spectacular Piekeneerskloof pass, is the delightful Olifantsrus Farm Guest House.

Located in the picturesque Cederberg valley and dominated by a rocky outcrop of weathered sandstone, this fully licensed 3 Star, deluxe guest house is set in a perfumed garden, with orange blossom in the spring and guava fruit in the autumn, bringing nature into a luxurious and relaxing lifestyle, in a tranquil contemporary dcor that looks out across citrus groves.

Johannes and Anyas have created a comfortable and stylish retreat where standards are high but formality is low. The spacious rooms are comfortably appointed with air-conditioning, DStv, en-suite showers, comfortable beds, a well-stocked minibar and facilities for self-catering.

Why bother when you can eat delicious and very reasonably priced food prepared by Johannes and Anyas. Each room opens onto the veranda where you can sit overlooking the garden and enjoy the view.

"Ons is baie vriendelik ontvang deur moeder van een van die eienaresse. Ons het heerlik gebly by Olifantsrus. Lieflike tuin en uitsig oor die lemoenboorde. Baie stil en rustig. <br/>Absoluut die lekkerste ontbyt geeet, smaaklik voorberei en 'n verskeidenheid geregte voorgesit. Sal beslis weer daar gaan oornag!"

"Although it needs a little TLC, it has great potential and if it is done as mentioned by the present managers, then it will be a great oasis..."

  • "Not up to standard"

    11 September 2013

"After friendly reception on arrival we decided to make use of the well stocked bar fridge in the room. When we discovered there was no ice we looked for the lady who showed us our room but she had already left. We then called the contact number and after the person on the other side refused to speak afrikaans, she said that she had no ice. Then we discovered there are no dining facilities on site, so we had to drive back to Citrusdal to buy meat at Spar. Back at the guest house the lights on the veranda in front of the rooms were all dead and we had to braai in the dark. The switch for the outside light that was situated in our room didn't work and just for the cherry on the cake the switch for the "heated towel rails" didn't work as well. Its a pity because it really has the potential to be a lovely place."

  • "Definitely going back!!"

    03 July 2013

"Olifantsrus Guest House is beautifully nestled in a rocky backdrop and surrounded by citrus trees. We had a nice time climbing the boulders and walking around the orchards. The room was very cosy and well equipped. We especially liked sitting on the little veranda overlooking the garden (probably looks amazing in spring).Anyas' warm welcome and hospitality made us feel at home. We also loved her breakfast especially the pancakes and fresh pressed orange juice. We ended up staying an extra night and we'll definitely be going back in a near future. We also highly recommend the Die Citrus Restaurant (owned by the hosts)."

"Third year in a row and once again we enjoyed our stay at Olifantsrus Guest House so much! Anya is the perfect host, and little Mia (her 10-month old daughter) is absolutely adorable! A well-deserved rest for us, and breakfast was superb as always. A nice breakaway to recuperate your soul. Thanks to Anya and Johannes."

  • "Delightful"

    08 March 2011

"We were travelling with friends and stayed there for three nights, in rooms 2 and 4. We found it to be a delightful experience. The scenery is beautiful, and the location ideal. The owner prepared a lovely breakfast for us each morning, and when we asked for a recommendation for dinner, she directed us to their restaurant in the nearby town, where we enjoyed a delicious meal."

    28 December 2010

"We arrived early at Olifantsrus wich was no problem at all. Our room was already available. The suroundings are stunning. The pool is so nice on a hot summers day and the people are very friendly. At night you can go out and look at the stars. I have never seen so many stars in my life, it was beautiful. We would definitely consider a stay at Olifantrus again."

"Anyas the owner looked after us very well. We stayed in Room 1 which wascharmingand overlookedthe garden with friendly cats who came to visit us. The food in their restaurantcalledThe Citrusthe village of Citrusdal was absolutely 5 star. Johannes is a chef with stunning ideas on what food is all about, supurb. Reasonably priced for the quality on offer. This was the highlight of our trip. Do yourselves a favour and go and eat there. Mind blowing. "
