Bovlei Guest Farm is located a mere 10 km from Clanwilliam in the peaceful and tranquil Boskloof Valley, surrounded by the majestic Krakadouw and Cedarberg mountains. The farm has been in the same Nieuwoudt family for several generations, all farming with citrus, and therefore many valuable memories have been created under the giant oak trees, around the fireplaces and on the lawn in the shade of Toringkop. Next to the old farmhouse is an old mill yesteryear used by the farmers of the kloof to mill flour for bread.
Self-catering accommodation at Bovlei is provided in the 100-year-old farmhouse which offers four double rooms, plus the extra option of a separate two-bedroom flat. It is an ideal getaway for more than one family for a relaxed and peaceful outing.
The spectacular scenic beauty of the flower season is available all around the farmhouse, however guests can also explore Lamberts Bay, Wupperthal, Namaqualand and Clanwilliam, where several water sport facilities are available. The well-known hiking trails to Toringkop, Krakadouw Mountains, Gods Window and the Biedouw Valley start at our front door.
Other than gorging on lifes good things, Bovlei offers guests swimming in the Jan Dissels River or a hike across the river to Gods Window at Platberg. You may be the lucky one to spot a leopard or even just its footprints. The Boskloof Valley is rich in bird life and 76 different bird species have already been spotted in the area.
"Thanks for sharing your piece of heaven with us"
"A wonderful two nights in a calm and comfortable farmhouse surrounded by the sounds of farm animals and running water, providing a totally restful atmosphere. The weather and the flowers were great. We had a problem with the TV which was unimportant."
"Upon arrive you're greeting by a smiling Nonna and her husband Gert, who manage the farm and the farmhouse. The pictures don't do the venue justice, as you're not just staying in a farmhouse, but someone's home. The massive lawn in front of the house is often home to the domestic and grazing farm animals; donkeys, sheep, chickens, a cat, and a dog.The house has everything one could possibly need and more. Choose between the indoor or outdoor fireplace - we opted for the outdoor experience as the weather was beautiful, even for winter. The setting is beautiful and the sound of the river could be heard clearly, even from the bedroom. The night sky was full of stars as there's not much light pollution.Wish we could have stayed longer!"
"We loved the setting, the homeliness of the house itself, the sheep, the mules, the mountains, the flowers . . ."
