Amarola is a semi-detached self-catering chalet, ideal for a relaxing and quiet holiday, located in the scenic town of Clarens in the Free State.
The chalet can accommodate up to 5 guests. It has to be said that 4 adults would sleep comfortably, and 5 is fine as enough beds but chalet does become rather small with 5 adults. It contains an open-plan area with a king-size bed downstairs and a single and double bed upstairs.The beds are made up with top quality linen and duck down duvets and pillows.
The chalet contains a flat screen TV with a commercial bouquet of DStv channels.
The chalet has a 4-seater dining table and chairs and a well-equipped kitchenette for all self-catering needs (2 plate hob). Guests can also spend time relaxing on the patio while enjoying a braai. A charming outdoor lounge area awaits you, and Weber braai facilities are provided.
The owners believe in giving a lot for your money so will enjoy 5 star toiletries, including top quality Face cloths and towels, Hotel standard body lotion, shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, all furniture and linen only from 5 star establishments, including his and her gowns.
Ample heating is provided for Clarens winter months, consisting of econo heater, plug in Nano technology air heater, Infra red heater and a 4th air heater. Electric blankets, additional blankets provided.
Guests can spend their days exploring this charming little town by visiting the many restaurants and curio shops on offer. Take a drive to the Golden Gate National Park, or enjoy activities such as fishing, hiking, horse riding, white river rafting, paintballing, mountain biking, zip-lining, golf on the world class golf course, 4-wheeling and much more.PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO DAILY SERVICING. "who keeps a feather duster and spade for dirt in a clothing cupboard. The unit next to the fridge is absolutely dirty. The patio is dirty.. the blankets are definitely not Swiss like you said...the blankets here my maid wont even use it.Im disgusted truly.has insulted me greatly by getting this accommodation The wall in the loft had a huge brown dirt mark that we actually think is shit...sorry for the use of word but I dont know how else to tell you.My husband had to take paper towels to wipe it off and my children refuse to sleep there.I have to reiterate to you that my home is not only very big but absolutely clean and 5 star. "Beds, bedding,towels of an excellent quality, very comfortable however stove not adequate for cooking cannot use two pots or pans at once, does not fit. Does not have dstv full package as advertised, Cupboards also used for other storage, red throw on double bed on loft was stained, tap in kitchen leaking, and had difficulty in arranging drop off of keys and caused delay in us leaving. Extra bedding would be welcome gets cold d in Clarens. Accommodation is fine for a weekend. Further the two sites advertising the accommodation needs to be updated, the premises and items not as advertised.I.e. Two tv's, dstv full package and a couch And PlayStation 2,( ad with where to stay) but could only book through safari now."

"A lovely place to stay - basically one large bedroom with an upstairs loft for another bed. Very small kitchenette, and adequate bathroom. A bit 'thin' on self-catering amenities. But a lovely weekend spot."

"Location was fine.Very quiet area in lovely town.The owner was very kindful, he soonely provided to replace faulty kettle and missing towels.The unit should be for five people,but is small for two.This is also caused by the fact that furniture is not well placed.The sofa has nosense in the corner,and we desperately looked for a small table and two chairs for our meals.No table and only one chair!The locator should consider that for other guests.And also he should arrange better for cleaning the unit,as it was full of dust.Also kitchen cloths and outside waste bin were missing.Full DSTVpackage and playstation are not the most important things,start from the basics!<div><em><br /></em></div><div><em><strong>ESTABLISHMENT RESPONSE:</strong></em></div><div><em><br /></em></div><div><div><em>Wow, a lengthy critic for a guest whom i went out of my way by allowing for two people to stay for thtee nights for only R1,000, (Almost cost, with actual cost being R3,140 plus website comm of *% so R3,390 or R1880 on special rates).</em></div><div><em><br /></em></div><div><em>Regards the kettle and missing towels, kettle worked fine and there was the same allocation of towels as always for past five years.I received a call saying kettle did not make water hot enough and may ii please bring additional towels (towels were not missing and kettle was not faulty), after which i personally drove to unit with brand new kettle and ADDITIONAL towels.</em></div><div><em>As far as unit not meeting guest approval with placement of furniture, there are comprehensive photos of unit on website and unit is exactly as per these photos and as advertised and i know of no small inexpensive unit with exclusively Wetherleys furniture, duck downs duvets, hotel grade beds and full DSTV.</em></div><div><em>The mention of no table and one chair would be the R15,000 suede two seater sofa and coffee table which is usually where people eat, whilst further option of 6 seater eating area on stoop with a large table and two smaller side tables.</em></div><div><em>The mention of dust is fairy tale with owner personally inspecting after each clean and part of that routine involves running damp cloth over all surfaces including top of bed head boards, TV, shelves and even door frames as standard tests.Owner was previously hotel manager for very well known 5 star boutique hotel and therefore puts these standards above all else and this was no exception.</em></div><div><em>As to claim of no dust bins, there are five dust bins in total, placement being kitchen, bathroom and lounge, with two large outside dustbins to the left and right of the front door just outside the unit, as well as two cleaning sponges and one cleaning cloth hanging in kitchen which perhaps all were missed.</em></div><div><em>As standard practice the guest was afforded an sms asking was everything to their satisfaction to which there was no response, after which they chose to post such comments, after owner gives a unit almost at cost to help them out.</em></div><div><em>The owner prides himself in offering the cleanest, best quality unit at the absolute lowest cost of any unit in Clarens, and in way of helping this guest offered even further discount.</em></div><div><em>This is the second complaint in three years, with other being a R75 payment reqd by agent we no longer use for key collection after midnight to which the owner opted to pay, from more than 350 bookings and in excess of 1000 guests.</em></div><div><em>We provide each guest with a written email prior to occupation, with owners email, contact number for any complaints which specifies that the owner is available 24/7 for duration of stay, an sms confirming all is in order, and there is a complaints book on the premises again with alll owners details to afford us the opportunity to assist with any and all complaints on the spot.</em></div><div><em>Its unfortunate that some people choose not to make use of this.</em></div></div><div><br /></div>"

"First everyone should read the "special deal" section on the right side of the page as it is THE ONLY PLACE where the owners are mentioning that if you come to Amarola after hours, you then need to collect the keys at another location and will have to pay an extra R75.<div>We left Joburg after work, got to Clarens it was pitch black went straight to the "cottage" (more a cluster than a cottage) - couldn't find the place. End up calling the owner who kept on mentioning a form with details on how to proceed after hours and that we had to go to "Clarens Destination" a shop to find a number to call a lady that would come and give us the key. We struggled to find the place as they were no lights, finally managed to find the phone number called the lady who we waited for 10-15 minutes. Lady comes in gives us the key and now ask us for R75. The owner kept on telling us that it was not his fault that we couldn't read booking confirmation and website. The after hour process is NEVER mentioned on the booking confirmation and EXCUSE ME Mr owner for not ready the "Special Deal" on the right side. Your special deals start with R100 for kids under 18 - guess what I don't have kids so I didn't think I had to read further. Instructions on after hours shouldn't be part of "special deal".</div><div>You were rude over the phone and I found it unacceptable.
