Happy Jackal Guest House

The Happy Jackal offers a choice of self-catering units or B&B. The double en-suite rooms (B&B), enjoy stunning river views. These are either ground-floor rooms with private entrances and garden patios, or impressively large and comfortable thatched upstairs rooms, each with an outside covered deck. All rooms enjoy upmarket facilities.
There are 3 self-catering units: small (2 or 3 people): medium (4 people) and large (6+people). These units are adjacent to the swimming pool and within the Happy Jackal grounds.
Although breakfast is not included in the self-catering rates, it can be ordered at an additional cost.
Breakfasts cater to all tastes and include both a full English and Health breakfast. Home-made jams, freshly baked bread and seasonal fruit from the garden are to be found on your table every morning. The dining room overlooks the river and its banks where Kudu are often to be seen grazing.
The Happy Jackal has a NO-SMOKING policy indoors.
Big Five game-viewing on our doorstep makes the Happy Jackal in Colchester the perfect choice of luxurious accommodation. Visit the Addo Elephant Park, only 2 mins away, in our open game-viewing Landrover with a qualified game-ranger.
This river lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River, is signposted on the N2 and is in the best location for game, coastal or river activities. It is only 30 minutes from Port Elizabeth airport and 15 minutes from Coega Harbour.

"Liz gave us a very warm welcome like we were old friends. Our room was spacious, light and fresh and the setting is beautiful, peaceful with a lovely swimming pool that we swam in and relaxed around. Breakfast was like no other we've had with an introduction to other guests, greeted with homemade bread by Peter and jams by Liz. A perfect strqrt to our day in Addo National Park which is literally around the corner. The perfect location to relax in with a view of the river after a long day in the park. Will definitely be back on my next visit."

"The hosts, Peter and Liz, gave us a very warm welcome and their friendliness and hospitality was heartwarming. The room (especially the bed) was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated, with a lovely view of the river. The food was delicious, not to mention the freshly baked bread by Peter! They also kindly took my husband's diabetes into account when serving our breakfast. We would not hesitate to go back there for another break."

  • "Perfect B&B"

    16 December 2008

"Peter and Liz have the perfect recipe for the perfect bed and breakfast stay! 5 star hospitality and accommodation. Incredible bird life, sunsets over the river, homemade bread and meals prepared with fresh ingredients, much from their own garden. When last have I had figs in my fruit salad!!! Our only regret is that we did not book in for an additional third night - next time!Charmaine and Colin BaileyEast London"
