Not only does Colesberg boast a quiet beauty, but also links all the national roads to the major cities of our beautiful country. Perfectly nestled within the heart of central South Africa, the Colesberg Lodge is strategically positioned for a fun holiday.
If you find yourself travelling through the Karoo on a sweltering summers day, our pool deck will provide you with the perfect haven in which to cool down and freshen up as well as the bar for some much needed refreshments. Our accommodation options range from luxury suites to the budget friendly rooms. Come unwind in the comfort of our sumptuous lounge and in winter relax in front of the country-style fireplace. You will always be assured of peace of mind during your stay, as we provide secure undercover parking for all our visitors.
Even the biggest appetite will be satisfied at our quaint in-house restaurant, boasting great Karoo cuisine. Our restaurant bar, situated on the ground floor, is also ideal for those not quite ready for shut-eye. Guests are more than welcome to come and relax in the laid-back atmosphere or simply join us for a quick nightcap.
Visit the Colesberg Museum in Murray Street Square, where youll see treasures such as the piece of glass upon which the first diamond found in Hopetown was cut in 1868. It was this very stone that began the Diamond Rush to Southern Africa. The area boasts many historical buildings and Anglo Boer War battle fields. One can enjoy boat and barge cruises on the majestic Orange River.
Thanks to the Doornkloof Nature Reserve, one can commune with nature by enjoying the many walking and hiking trails. The Toverberg Game Farm houses small game, such as springbok and steenbok. Colesberg is surrounded by many Merino sheep farms, offering a fascinating insight into the day-to-day activities involved in successful sheep farming. Race horse breeding is also prolific in this region.
"Loved everything nothing needs improvement"
"Price is overrated for facility. Advertise wifi, which doesnt work."
"I would not recommend Colesberg Lodge to anyone. It is extremely expensive! The room was low budget and not all that clean. The food at the restaurant was highly unsatisfactory and also cost a fortune. I must compliment the staff though, they were all very friendly and helpful."
"<p>BAD experience!! </p><p>1. On arrival at 15h00 reception wasn't even aware of my booking and that it was already paid in full.</p><p>2. When asking for something to drink I was told the bar only opens at 17h00! Eventually she ask what we would like to drink but I couldn't get what I wanted due toNO STOCK.</p><p>3. Dinner was even worse. My wife ordered from the menu aspinach and feta quiche(?). The kitchen informed her 5 minutes later that they do not have that so sheordered chicken mayo sandwich. Then the kitchen againinformed her that they do not have chicken mayo so she had to order chicken a la king.</p><p>4. After dinner I wanted to order a coke when the barman told me that there is NO COKE! So I had to settle for a cream soda iunstead.</p><p>5. On arrival - almost no toilet paper in our bathroom. Had to ask two different people TWICE before somebody eventually brought us toilet paper.</p><p>Thanks but no thanks - NEVER again will we stay at Colesberg Lodge. I know you cannot stock everything 24/7 but then you change your menu accordingly. If you look at the room it is alsonot at all value for money. Beds are absolutely pathetic and I'm sure that they are in use sincethe 19th century.</p><p></p>"
"We booked for 2 luxury rooms we were 4 adults one couple with 2 kids and one couple with a baby. When we arrive they demoted us to a double room. When we asked why they said due to the commission you took we no longer qualified for 2 luxury rooms but only for 2 double rooms. When we went to the rooms it was clear that you will NOT fit two single bed mattresses in the room. We then complained and they moved one of the couples to a "family room" at the staff courters which was clearly no longer in use. In the other double room the air conditioner did not work. It was 38 degrees that day and I am 8 months pregnant. I could not sleep cause the room was so hummed and stuffy! The "family room" did not have any Air Con and both rooms did not have television. They said that if we wanted to qualify for the luxury rooms we had to book directly with them and not with you."

"The room had damp in the walls, the beds were poor quality, bar not open, restaurant not open, staff seemed happy. We went out to drink and eat."
