Die Tuishuise & Victoria Manor

Die Tuishuise exudes an air of elegance, transporting you back to a bygone era on the historic and charming Market Street. • "Amazing Dinner"

    03 December 2019

"We happened to stay at the Victorian Manor on a day when temperatures hit 39 degrees Celsius. The air con in our room seemed to be playing up but we were assisted by Vernon who provided us with a portable fan. Our bathroom did not measure up to the standards we are familiar with elsewhere. The dinner was economical, well prepared and very tasty. The breakfast too was superb. Amos the waiter is a superstar and deserves the greatest praise! All in all, we were happy."

Sit in the diningroom and let Amos and his team present their famous buffet dinner. Don't be in a hurry.... savour each moment. It is so unique that you have to take your time in making lasting memories."

  • "A Karoo gem"

    15 September 2017

"This is our 2nd trip back to Die Tuishuis, stayed in the Lion House. A nostalgic trip in history of times gone by. Love the attention to detail. This trip we brought my sister from Phoenix Arizona to visit at your amazing hotel. The evening dinner with Amos in attendance was superb. Springbok starter, followed by lamb shank and a superb pineapple upside down pudding with custard."

    15 January 2017

"We arrived late in the evening and had to leave early the next morning. The Tuishuise staff were friendly and helpful despite the late hour, and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The house we stayed in (Number 50) was clean and well appointed, and it was full of interesting historical pieces. We would certainly stay there again!"

  • "Weekend in Cradock"

    16 May 2015

"We asked to be moved to a room with a king bed and they gave us a very pretty cottage, gave us fresh milk and heaters. We were very comfortable. The restaurant is beautifully old-fashioned and the food is good, In a two week trip I still don't get the excitement over Karoo lamb chops!!! The staff were very helpful and friendly, and it was pleasant to chat to the owner over a glass of sherry!"

  • "What a surprise !"

    10 April 2015

"First appearance is deceiving, once inside is another matter, Old world chard of days gone by most of it original, Restoration - a lot of thought gone into it to keep bygone years alive. But for me it was a little over the top and one or two nights would be enough for me, but must admit beds are really comfortable, linen very clean and the cottages extremely well equipped, spacious and clean. Lovely staff,, good atmosphere throughout the hotel and excellent meals - really good value for money. Absolutely no complaints at all."

  • "Good overnighter"

    23 March 2015

"Friendly staff, good breakfast/dinner. The cottages needs a bit of maintenance, but still good for the price. If they could have the street closed off and made into a parking and leisure area it would be great. Street feels a bit unsafe and detracts form the olde world experience."

  • "Awesome experience"

    13 July 2013

"A friend told me about the Tuishuise. What an absolutely amazing experience. The welcome was warm and friendly. We stayed in Victoria house and it was absolutely awesome. The dcor and furnishings took us back to another time although we still had the modern luxuries of TV and air conditioner. The 3 course dinner was scrumptious and we all had seconds just because it was so good. Breakfast was just as good with the fresh scones topping of an awesome stay. Thank you Tuishuise - you guys rock. Will definitely be back."

    08 January 2007

"We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at "Die Tuishuise". The cottage we stayed in, Anna, has been beautifully restored and offered us the unique opportunity to step back in time for a night. It was well equipped which allowed us to prepare simple meals for our two young children. A definite must for anyone passing through ..."

  • "Living in my grandparent's home"

    18 December 2006

"We appreciated the beautiful real antiques being used as practical items. The cottages had been neatly restored without changing their historical character. This is a rare experience in a make-belief-world where plastic items and simulated "wood veneer" floors and furniture products are the order of the day. A candle-lit dinner at the Victoria Manor Hotel is accompanied by good classical music and friendly service."

  • "Interesting stop over"

    14 March 2006

"Comfortable accomodation and good meals - reasonably priced"

  • "Die Tuinhuise"

    23 January 2006

"lovely environment and well restored houses. It is a pity that trucks can destroy the quietness of this so typically Karoo village."
