  • "Ultimate getaway"

    12 January 2016

"My girlfriend and I spent 10 days at the lodge. When we arrived we were very tired from the long trip, to our surprise the staff carried all our luggage inside the chalet. The 4 sleeper chalet was immaculate, and was very well outfitted. The staff was incredibly helpful, they provided us with anything we requested. They even arranged more fuel for us from the town Willowvale.<div><br /></div><div>Everyone should be aware that this place is very rural. The 70kms from Willowvale will take at least 2-3hrs. You need a car with good ground clearance and that can handle rough gravel roads. Make sure that you have a spare wheel. Take enough food with you to last for the duration of your stay. You will be able to buy basic groceries at the spaza shops and beer at the shebeens. It is a great experience to support the local shops. The people in the area are some of the friendliest I have ever been around with.</div><div><br /></div><div>The fishing in the area is amazing and the wildlife is like you are in a nature documentary. You will be blown way by the purity of the region. We spent 12 hours a day on the beach fishing, exploring, drinking beer and watching the sun set over the Nqobara Bay.</div><div><br /></div><div>Dorothy, thank you very much for your hospitality. It was a pleasure to meet you.</div><div><br /></div><div>I will go back in a heart beat!</div>"

Neither Dorothy nor the agent mentioned that to reach the place we needed to pass through the worst roads you can ever imagine. The information advertised is grossly misleading. We had to call Dorothy who gave us misleading information about sign boards that had long been removed or fallen off. On arriving at the Lodge at 18h00 after hours of negotiating roads suitable for 4x4s we were amazed that the place had no security guards to open the gate. Oninquiringthe lady on duty called Dorothy who rudely told me to find another place if I wasn't happy. That we (paying customers) were told to find another place at night with a 7 year old by a person who didn't even want to hear what we were requesting constitutes not only bad service but an attitude that should not be tolerated in the hospitality industry. We only slept at the place for a night because our daughter was tired. This is an insult to our tourism industry. • "A little disappointing"

    09 April 2015

"A little disappointing as the kitchen was not well equipped. No bottle opener, can opener, serving dishes, salad bowl, bread bin. No mirror in bathroom or towel rails. Otherwise clean and reasonably comfortable. Luckily,Buli, the caretaker was friendly and helpful and tried to help out with things where she could. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay."

  • "What a gem"

    29 September 2013

"If you are looking for something off the beaten path, then this is for you. Very clean accommodation in a stunning village close to Dwesa nature reserve. A true gem of the wild coast. We would go back and recommend to others."

  • "Dwesa River Mouth Lodge"

    12 August 2013

"We have recently stayed at this Lodge. The staff are very willing and helpful, we were however very disappointed. Firstly it states "sea views", the lodge faces the gravel road with the spectacular sea view behind the lodge! One has to walk behind the building to see the sea!. There is no patio or veranda to sit on and no shelter at all outside and as the lodge is situated right on top of a steep hill it is very much at the mercy of the wind! The living room area is too small for 10 persons but the bedrooms are adequate. the kitchen needs things like coffee mugs, bowls for salads, braai tongs. There is no dining area in the lodge, one has to cart your cooked meal to the dining hall which is situated next door or eat on your lap. It also needs individual braai area at the house for 10 persons. A paved area is also necessary. but the biggest disappointment was that we could not sit and look at the spectacular view from the house!"
