Potties Guest House

In the middle of South Africa, lies a small town called De Aar. The town is well known for steam trains, springbuck and paragliding records. In this same town, you will find FlyDeAar Guesthouse, also known as Guest House. This small but busy guest house has nine en-suite rooms, accommodating up to 16 people sharing.

FlyDeAar has a large enclosed garden and braai area. With lush carpet-like green grass surrounding the pool, guests are able to relax and recover from their travels. For your convenience, we are also fully licensed and speak English, Afrikaans and German.

We also have secure off-street parking, laundry services, secretary and office facilities, and a small conference facility.

"The welcome was warm, the staff were very accommodating and kind. The room was lovely. I am not sure whether it was supposed to be self catering or not because there were no cutlery or plates. But we had a microwave and fridge. We had brought our own coffee ,tea and milk so we didnt use the provided stuff, but if you like fresh milk or tastier coffee than Ricoffy , then I suggest you take your own, there are plenty of grocers in De Aar so its easy to get what you need. The pool was a welcome addition to our stay, as I travelled with a companion who wanted to swim a great deal, and the pool was just the right temperature. Its not a pool for those who need steps out of the pool, it has 2 big steps, but this might not suit the elderly or those with mobility issues. I have also raised the need for a slip proof shower mat to make the shower safer, because I fear the shower, as lovely as it looks, and it looks wonderful when its dry, it becomes a skid pan when its wet. And no bars to hang onto either as one tries to move out of the unit. But this feed back was well received so I have no doubt they will address the issue."

"We slept in room number 1 and it was dirty. There is a lot of dust behind the desk in the room and the shower needs a good scrub down. There is also a lot of broken stuff in the room like the asbestos heat panel, the bin is dented, the bathroom cutain is loose, the carpet has not been vacuumed and there was grid on it, the shower drain sieve is loose. I am going to stop. the breakfast was good and the people was friendly."

"The bed and breakfast has been nicely kept and is clean on the inside. I'm not a fan of the way smoke drifts in from other people smoking in the vicinity. It is also a little funny how there was complimentary bubble bath, but our unit had no bath! Overall the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, with a well done breakfast in the morning."

"This guesthouse is good value.The owners were very friendly and helped us in a very generous way because our rented car broke down an they did a great lot of phone calls and talked to the car - rental.Without them, we would have had a lot of trouble to continue our trip.Many, many thanks to them!!!!"
