The Vaal Lookout
Like a moored ocean liner, The Vaal Lookout guesthouse graces the shoreline of the pristine Vaal Dam, in the watersports resort of Deneysville. We are just an hour drive from Johannesburg, we are approximately 120 m from the waters edge and our venue commands spectacular views of the dam and passing pleasure craft.
Established in the late 1930s, when the Vaal Dam was built to serve the water needs of Johannesburg, the village is a mecca for the serious yachtsman, water skiers, jet skiers, canoeists, fishermen, bird watchers and astronomers. Village amenities include two modern supermarkets, liquor stores, three excellent butcheries, a dry cleaner, a hardware store, a chemist, post office, a DVD store, art and antique galleries, pubs, restaurants and a filling station.
The Vaal Lookout is designed to serve the needs of tourists, the corporate sector, watersports enthusiasts and those wanting a peaceful weekend retreat. It also makes a perfect base for visiting members of the horseracing fraternity, with the Vaal Racecourse being only 20 minutes away.
Guest accommodation comprises of five luxury double suites, each with a sumptuous en-suite bathroom. Two of the four spacious upstairs bedrooms provide family accommodation for up to six guests. The downstairs suite has a shower only and is designed to meet the needs of senior citizens, with its own kitchenette. Separate from the main house is Waterloo Cottage, which is a small self-catering unit, which can sleep up to four guests.
Providing all the extra touches that distinguish the finest guesthouses of the world, The Vaal Lookout has a library and TV lounge, with the full range of DStv channels. Guests can relax in club chair comfort, enjoying a magnificent view of the sparkling waters of the dam or watching a DVD selected from our extensive library. A full English breakfast is included in the tariff and we cater for evening meals on request, priding ourselves on the quality of our cuisine.
Facilities are also provided for smaller, exclusive weddings and conferences.

02 June 2017"We stayed in the cottage that is hidden behind the house. Nothing mentioned about it or any pictures on the internet of the cottage. Washing line in front of the door. Garden rubble outside the window. At half past 9 the water was only lukewarm. The plug of tv was no power. 2 Single beds pushed together to make a double bed. Please stay away from the Vaal Lookout."

28 March 2014"Very nice stay and host's were excellent. What I would like to see extra in the room would be a small fridge to at least keep your beverages cold and a TV. We had to share a TV lounge with Indian guests and that didn't work so well."

The hosts, Ellaine and Jimmy, were highly accommodating of all our needs and all the noise we made (we were a group of 6 adults and 4 children, mostly toddlers - to add to that, 2 of us were also vegetarian). They really offered us everything possible to make our stay comfortable. The only turn off was the mosquitoes, again not their fault - they provided us with all sorts of repellants. All in all, we had a great time. Thank you very much for your hospitality."
