Ellis Nest

Overlooking the Dullstroom Dam and Steenkampsberg Mountain, you'll find Ellis Nest, within the quaint Dullstroom village. Surrounded by fantastic scenery, Ellis Nest offers comfortable accommodation, perfect as a stopover for travellers on their way to the Kruger National Park or just visiting for leisure.

The unit consists of three cosy bedrooms, each carpeted and fitted with heaters. Two bedrooms have double beds and en-suite bathrooms, while the other bedroom comprises two single beds and a separate bathroom. The spacious living area features underfloor heating, a fireplace, and an indoor barbecue facility, ideal for entertaining or relaxing. It is equipped with comfortable couches, an eight-seater dining table and a TV, and the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. Double parking is also provided for guests' peace of mind. Unfortunately pets are not allowed.

Ellis Nest is situated in a security area, within walking distance of the village's numerous restaurants and pubs. Dullstroom is one of the top locations for trout fishing, and luckily the establishment is situated opposite the Dullstroom Dam, perfect for throwing out your line. Fishing fees are included in our rates, allowing guests free access to well-stocked dams in the nature reserve. Normal provincial fishing licenses will however be needed. The bottom dam is strictly catch and release, while at the top dam two fish can be kept per day.

  • "Lovely weekend"

    03 April 2018

"Great place, very clean and close to town."

  • "Decent wines glasses"

    05 March 2018

"Kitchen well equipped. 3 bathrooms. Only criticism is the outside balcony. Too small to have 4 people around the table. Very comfortable. Booking process and liason with owner Linda 1st class."

  • "The Birds of Prey handling experience."

    22 September 2017

"As stated by Linda the accommodation was not wheelchair friendly but spacious - this was the case but with the addition of a shower chair it would make it more convenient and accessible. The accommodation was lovely and really comfortable we would love to come again."

  • "Awesome weekend"

    14 May 2017

"Ellis Nest was so well equipped for this cold weekend, it was amazing: under floor heating, heaters in the rooms, heating lights in the bathrooms, indoor braai, etc. We loved every bit of the accomodation and surroundings. This is definitely a keeper on my accomodation list. We caught a couple of trout on Sunday which was a great way to finish the weekend. I would highly recommend this place to anybody going to Dullstroom, looking for a comfortable stay. Thanks Linda"

  • "Will not go back"

    10 September 2013

"Would definitely NOT stay here again. Paid my deposit, and 3 days before arrival was asked to pay the balance, instead of arrival or departure. I was harassed almost every day thereafter for the balance. After full payment was made we were then advised as to where we could collect the keys. The directions were so poorly written, we battled to find it even with the GPS. I realise this is a self-catering unit and I had flown on business from CT for 1 night, but there was no dish washing liquid, hardly enough loo paper. I feel that for R1750 for the night it was way too expensive!"

  • "Lovely comfy house"

  • "Very nice"

    28 December 2011

"We found the unit very comfortable and well equipped, and enjoyed the ambiance close to the lake. We settled very happily and must commend the owners for their interest in our welfare, and support given regarding travelling routes from KZN. I must also compliment SafariNow for their incredible efficiency and constant contact. Wish we had longer in Dullstroom."
