Reviews

  • "It was private"

    07 April 2022

"The bathroom doors is awkward otherwise the room was brilliant. The parking was also worrying to park your car overnight in main street."

  • "None"

"The keys confusion has been highlighted in previous reviews and I wasn't surprised when we also stuck outside without keys and being told to hang around whilst our hosts were still looking for keys. When the keys were later found the room wasn't cleaned. We had to be taken to a different place. The second place didn't have a microwave. We were promised one but we never got it until we left 4 days later. What we went through is unacceptable and we will not book The Gables again."

  • "For midgets?"

"I felt like a giant in this tiny room, we ended up only staying 1 night and went home a day early as the accomodation was that bad!!!!"

  • "definitely the location, and closeness of quality restaurants"

    19 June 2017

"Pity about the constant noise of trucks throughout the night"

  • "Great location"

    04 May 2017

"The Gables is right in the middle of the main road making it very easy to walk around instead of driving from one place to the other. It is a no frills but very comfortable accommodation with a great central location."

  • "Comfortable"

    20 April 2017

"We enjoyed our stay, Everything you need. Safari Now and The Gables need to sort out their communication. The confirmation from Safari Now tells you to collect your key across the road at Dullstroom Accommodation - when you get their they are close with a sign saying you need to collect the key at MayFly restaurant. Get there and then there is no key - so back to Dullstroom Accommodation to get the emergency phone number - luckily they told me to go and check at another restaurant and found the key there. If you have traveled for 15hrs you do not want to spend 30min looking for a key."

  • "Weekend Visit - Apartment 1"

    29 August 2016

"One very important tip that I can give is that if the water is off, please email your guests beforehand to give warning. We arrived in Dullstroom at 4:30pm on Friday and were given our keys with no mention that the water was off. We eventually found out when we tried to make tea and shower at 6pm. I then had to phone the number on the restaurant door to find out if the water was off in fact off. This is unacceptable, the water going off is not your fault but you should have given us a warning email before we arrived. We appreciate the 5L bottle outside our door, it was a bit late but thank you.

This did not stop us having a lovely weekend, the room was very comfortable and we loved the booklets with a list of restaurants and activities."

  • "Short stay"

    25 December 2015

"Great service and comfortable room with all the necessary utilities for a short stay. Very small bathroom that results in an uncomfortable experience."

  • "The cold nights"

    02 July 2013

"Rooms pleasant, pub great meals fantastic."

  • "Closed up Gables at Dullstroom"

    24 November 2012

"Unfortunately we weren't able to get into the gables as it was closed up for the night so if you intend to book the gables get there early as they leave you in the lurch sitting in the car park with nowhere to stay."

  • "Basic but clean"

    01 September 2012

"I used the room as a one-night stopover. The rooms are clean, comfortable and functional, although with a tiny (functional) bathroom. Did get some noise - mainly from the trucks on the main road through Dullstroom. This was slightly disturbing."

  • "Great stay"

    24 July 2012

"We enjoyed our one-night stay. It is very cosy with the heater and electric blanket!"

  • "Needs attention"

    04 July 2012

"The accommodation was fine for one night. What I find unacceptable were the many globes that were fused: the one on the top landing, the bathroom, the one bedside lamp and a number in the roof light. The shower needs serious cleaning inside. The curtains have seen better days. Two chairs are provided, but a little table would have been wonderful. As a self-catering unit, what about a basic microwave oven? There was also only cutlery for one person - we were two. There was nothing wrong with the unit, but maybe some supervision is needed and a good "sprucing up" to create that welcome feeling."

  • "Nice stopover"

    11 December 2011

"Be aware that Dullstroom is very foggy and one of the coldest places in SA. We had a very nice evening at the Dullstroom Inn. Fireplace had been running for 35 years. All recommended."

  • "Very nice"

    19 September 2011

"What a pity that we stayed only one night. It's a very nice place and right in the middle of Dullstroom where you can park your car and walk everywhere."

  • "Nice"

    03 May 2011

"Great place - nice and neat."
