The Grange Guest House

The Grange Guest House is an AA Superior graded, gracious three-storey 1950's mansion house situated in upper Durban North. The first bed and breakfast in Durban North 16 years ago, The Grange has recently undergone a massive transformation.

Being a house with a history, no two rooms in the Grange are alike, but whether spacious and gracious or cosy and comfortable, all rooms enjoy the same level of quality furnishings, amenities, and state-of-the-art bathrooms.

Accommodation at The Grange is flexible. We have rooms that suit the corporate traveller on a budget, and our large deluxe rooms will satisfy the most discerning traveller whether on business or pleasure. We also have rooms that suit families, and our large family room on the ground floor is also wheelchair accessible with a large 'wet room' style bathroom. The two-bedroom suite on the first floor has wonderful sea views and suits colleagues travelling together, as well as family groups.

Most rooms in The Grange enjoy sea views. The special 'Indaba Tree' room on the first floor has an African theme and a unique private roof garden with views to the city and sea.

Whether spacious and gracious or cosy and comfortable, all rooms at The Grange enjoy the same quality extra length beds, quality percale sheets, extra large duvets and pillows, 32 inch flat screen wall mounted TVs with DStv, ceiling fans, reverse cycle air-conditioning, safe, tea and coffee tray, clock radio, hair dryer, and toiletries. The bathrooms are spacious, most with huge frameless showers, and all have suspended toilets and Italian san ware.

Breakfast is enjoyed in the uniquely furnished lounge and dining area that flows out to the large patio through French and folding stack doors. This space is also a lovely area to host a small office end of year party, or dinner for up to 20 people.

The garden features a swimming pool and there is also a braai for guests' use.

"We spent four nights at The Grange. The guest house is very clean with its white soft linen. Its absolutely beautiful and relaxed. The buffet breakfast could feed a village. The staff and owner are friendly and helpful. The location is convenient, safe and quiet. Jabu was very helpful to arrange a late booking for our friends. Recommendation to the owner: please get each room ironing equipment (having to go to the laundry room every morning was not ayoba) and telephone line. We enjoyed our stay...great hospitality...keep it up!"

"I have been to a couple of hotels before booking with the Grange, and I always thought if you want to have a good time out, hotel is the only option but spending my weekend at the grange just changed my perspective. Bn'B is far better than the hotel if not only the grange."
