  "Absolutely gorgeous views, bird life was stunning and perfectly viewed from the little, well-protected covered stoep / porch - the perfect place for an early morning cup of tea. Hard to imagine we were just a few kms off the N2 highway. Perfectly placed for a 1 night / 2 day stay to see the Railway Market in Elgin, visit the delicious Hickory Shack (a few kms down the N2) and pop in to Peregrine Farm stall for lunch and take-home pies to the hungry teens for dinner. On the same road as Aanhouwen Cottages are a couple of wine farms, we popped into the beautiful Almenkerk for more spectacular views and rolling steppes for any noisy kids and dogs to roll down. We were 2 friends escaping the kids and dogs at home and M'seb cottage had everything we needed except we really should have bought some wood to light a warming indoor fire for later that night as the little heater in the bathroom didn't work (you'll also need to bring a box of matches if you want to light the bedside gas lamps). Cleanliness: ten out of ten! Will I / we return: most definitely!"

  "Our hostess was most accomodating and friendly. The cottages were spacious, neat and clean. The only area/s which could be impoved: The shower head could be better and the water changes temp from very hot to really cold whilst trying to shower. 4 of the coffee cups had chips these shoud be replaced. Thank you for a comfortable, peaceful, enjoyable stay. We were espcialy grateful for no set check out time on Sunday."

  "We enjoyed our stay at Aanhouwen cottages. We planned a day of wine tasting in the Elgin area and were looking for a place to stay over after all the wine drinking. The Aanhouwen cottages are basic, but had everything we needed! The kitchen (although small) is well equipped - we had all the utensils and bowls that we needed. Quite often I find that self catering places are limited with kitchen utensils, but everything we needed we could find here. The cottages are a bit small, but perfect it you want to spend the weekend or day sightseeing the Elgin area. The cottage and bedrooms were also very clean."

It has everything you need (stove, fridge, microwave, cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery, fan, heater, fireplace, braai) for a relaxed stay. The location in the mountains and alongside lakes and dams is beautiful and inviting. A good value getaway."
