  "The greeting on arrival was " do not feed the dogs " during the stay the children were shouted at for playing and running around, which by rights children run, the hospitality was absolutely horrific. The kitchen cupboards were so under stocked that we had to go and purchase our own cookware. And just to top it all off our trailers spare tyre was stolen in the parking lot!!!!!!!! How do I rate this stay? I have never been happier to be home than I am now!"

  "The room was roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was superb. JJ the hostess very friendly and helpful. The only fault I can mention is that the dirt road to the B&B could do with a bit of work."

  "The mountains were stunning, but not really visible from our chalet.....grrrr. out chalet, The Mountains was nice, but lacked a little refinement - for example no ice in the freezer which was on. The parking was far away, so having to carry stuff was a pain. There is enough space to have parking very close. It was annoying that after being told that we should phone JJ if the gate was closed, we could not raise her after pressing buzzer and calling. Eventually someone hearing our hooter came to the rescue. JJ was a very friendly and pleasant person."

  "The accommodation was perfect in an oasis in Elliot. As we arrived late we had to drive back into town to get some late night dinner, which was a challenge. Fortunately we understand that there's is a new restaurant opening soon on the estate, which I'm sure will be a blessing to travelers like us"

  "We were met by the owner of the property, who was very friendly and showed us around the accommodation we were staying in. The accommodation had everything you would require and the location was stunning. We ordered breakfast which was ample, and well presented. A very clean place."

  "<p>We had a most comfortable overnight stay at The Guardians Mountain Cottage. <br></br>The cottage was spotlessly cleanand tastefully and comfortably furnished. An electric blanket was an added bonus against the night time chill. The cottage has really impressive mountain views beyond the kikuyu pastures with grazing lambs creating a lovely farm atmosphere. Our hosts, JJ and Ockert, werewelcoming and very pleasant without being intrusive in any way.<br></br></p><p>We enjoyed our short stay and consider that it was very good value for money.<br></br></p><p></p>"

  "The cottage was excellent. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and all the shops in Elliott were closed except for cafes. I was disappointed that the owner did not offer to cook us a light supper when I asked her due to the fact that the shops were closed. She should have informed us of the shop being closed in the village after 3.00 pm on a Sunday."

  "A fabulous place. JJ and Ockert are just amazing hosts: friendly, helpful, and really in love with what they are doing. We had a big group (9 adults) and stayed for five nights, doing development work in some nearby villages, and making a film. The Guardians was a wonderful place to come home to. JJ's an excellent cook (she did our breakfast and evening meals), and made special accommodation for the vegetarian in our group. Ockert opened up the bar most evenings and successfully tempted us with his great stories and excellent wine and whiskey. I particularly recommend the Olive Cottage and Mountain Cottage. They are absolutely dreamy, with stone walls, thatched roofs, private bath, and living room/dining room with a self catering kitchenette. There is also a gorgeous chapel with a thatched roof and a stunning view of the Guardians, the high rocks on top of the mountains in the back of the farm. Wonderful walking on the farm too, although we didn't have much time for that.I've stayed in dozens of B and Bs across the world, but never a better one. Truly. Thank you JJ and Ockert! Hope to visit again!"

  "We have just enjoyed the most wonderful and memorable 2-night stay in Mountain Cottage at The Guardians. Our friendly host, JJ, wasn't in the least phased when we arrived with an extra guest - she simply organised a single bed in our beautiful cottage, complete with percale linen. The first thing that strikes you when you drive up the farm road, is the breath-taking view of The Guardians - human-like rocky outcrops in the spectacular mountain guarding the farm. Sheep, horses, geese...expect to see the most wonderful pastoral scenes wherever you look. Medicine for the soul! The accommodation was 5-star. Piping hot water, the very best linen, fluffy white towels, electric blankets, a beautiful little kitchen with all the mod cons. We pre-ordered dinner and delicious traditional South African fare arrived at our door every night. Thank you, JJ, for being the kindest, caring host and for going the extra mile. Mia can't stop talking about her horse-riding experience!"

  "After finding Elliot a depressing place with poverty, dirt and general neglect all around, the Guardians was the complete opposite and we really enjoyed the beauty of nature and the hospitality of Joanita. The food she had prepared for us comes highly recommended. The cottage allocated to us was clean and comfortable. We recommend a little better lighting for reading in the lounge."

  "We stayed for one night at the farmhouse. The ablutions were extremely poor. The bath in the shared bathroom had a crack in it and was unusable. The wooden slats in the shower were broken and the bathroom was in a state of disrepair. In addition the cats and dogs had obviously had the run of the place and one of our party who was allergic to cat fur had an asthma attack. I'm not sure what the rest of the place was like but the farmhouse was poor. Telling was the fact that the owner demanded the full payment as deposit knowing full well that the accommodation was sub-par."
