"An excellent hotel. of course not a five star tourist place but a wonderful basic nice country hotel One of a few that survived. I like it."

  • "No tea or coffee"

    20 July 2015

    "
I found the Hotel quite pricey considering there was no breakfast included. The rooms were fine, comfortable beds but no kettle, tea or coffee in the rooms. When weenquired as to where we could get a cup we were toldonly when the kitchen opens for dinner or in the morning. That's unacceptable, they could at least have an urn withmugs and tea bags, coffee, milk and sugar available anytime for guest.

Don't think I will be staying there again, even though the staff were very polite. Hopefully when they read this something will be done.
"

  • "The worst place ever"

    29 April 2015

"My Hubby and I stayed at the George Hotel in Eshowe after attending a wedding in Eshowe, we booked into the George Hotel.

The receptionist was friendly however the room left much to be desired. The mini ensuite or better yet the shower and toilet room door didn't close or even lock. The shower needed to be deep cleaned with a pressure or steam hose. This place is really basic and for the room rate they are asking for is not worth it. This place should be R400 per night at most.

Really disappointing and one should only sue this place if it is your last resort.
"

"If hot stuffy rooms and cold showers are you’re thing, then the George Hotel in Eshowe is just the place for you. The air-conditioner work poorly and there was no hot water at all. I could not stand to go back and sleep there for a second night so I found alternative accommodation close by. If I could give the George half a star, I would have done that!

Establishment's response

Dear Mr Booysen,

Many thanks for your review on the SafariNow.com website. Our sincerest apologies that you did not enjoy your stay and found it necessary to find alternative accommodation.

We have noted your review and have looked at the problems and while we could not find a problem with the water and there was hot water when we checked (we will however keep an eye on this to ensure that it does not reoccur), we have had the air conditioner fixed, as well as had all the air conditioners in the hotel checked and serviced.

Please do note that we do have 24 hour reception to assist our guests with any problems, and should a problem not be fixable at that time, to move then our guests to an alternative room, which I believe our evening receptionist did offer you on Saturday when you checked out. While we do endeavor to keep all our guests happy, I am sure you will understand that we are not always able to do this if we are not aware of the problems as they arise.

Many thanks for your response and for bringing these to our attention. Again our apologies for the inconvenience."
