  • "Glitz and Glam, but Some Work Needed Under The Hood"

"The Ruby Stone Boutique Hotel is a beautiful establishment. The room I stayed in was the executive suite. This room was very spacious with a huge bed, an extravagant chaise, 2 patios, a meeting table, an exquisite shower, and a beautiful Jacuzzi tub. I was very happy with the aesthetic of the room, but there is definitely some work that needs to be done to improve the stay of guests. There were 2 things that compelled me to book my stay here. One being the Jacuzzi tub. I was excited to bathe in the Jacuzzi tub, but much to my disappointment the jets did not work. I still enjoyed a bath in a rather large tub, but my expectations were not met. I heard of this hotel through recommendation of a friend who stayed, and the second reason I stayed was for the breakfast. At check-in I verified with the gentleman at the desk that we would be able to order breakfast the following day from the menu, and that it was included in the price of the room; he confirmed. The following day I called concierge for the menus, and was informed that there was a buffet. I was expecting to have breakfast bought to me, but was still looking forward to a delicious breakfast buffet. I went downstairs to assess the buffet, and much to my disdain nothing displayed was food I wanted to eat. I spoke with the same man who assured me about being able to order breakfast the previous day. I asked if we would be able to order from the menu because we did not eat anything on display, and he told me we could not and that he would get in trouble if he allowed us. I did end up eating a small plate of eggs, beans, and brown toast; but it is hardly what I wanted to eat. The miscommunication regarding breakfast was highly frustrating. The RubyStone Boutique is pricey, and I was willing to pay that price to get the experience I desired. However, in hindsight I would have stayed somewhere that was not as expensive. I chose to stay in the executive suite, and expected an executive experience; but RubyStone fell short of my hopes and expectations.Cleanliness: 4 stars- very clean minus the weird bugs that kept finding their way into our room. No idea how they got in. I then saw the same bugs in the lobby bathroom.Comfort: 5 stars- The bed, chaise, and chairs were my favorite parts of the room in hindsight. i really enjoyed lounging around in them.Location: 4 stars- The location is in a nice quiet neighborhood, however it was difficulty to get to on taxi.Facilities: 3 stars- The Jacuzzi tub did not work ;-/Value for Money: 1 Star- The very reasons I chose to stay at this hotel were not met. It made my stay here that much more frustrating.Overall experience: 2.9/ 3 stars- I feel as though I wasted money on a big room, without having my most important expectations met. I could not see myself staying here again."
